Speaking of people watching, my mother has just returned from CVO, and while sitting with a friend in Faro ariport departure lounge, spent about 30 minutes looking at a young smartly dressed couple sitting opposite. Mum and her friend love to try and guess stranger's occupation and were quite stumped by this couple. Were they in the travel industry ? Were they rich and famous ? and so on.
Anyway, the young couple's flight was called, they gathered their bags and as they passed my dear old mum, the lady stopped by and whispered in mum's ear "we teach deaf people to lip read"

. . . always thought those pre-raphealites knew what to appreciate in a woman . . .
Tricky, probably think this is a mad question, what gender are you? I think it is safe to assume with Susandawn, but Tricky, now thats a different matter.
I 've assumed with Admiral and that is totally based on age old stereotypes and the culture in which I grew up, so would love to be wrong - but probably wont be

No worries, Maddi. I spotted the time lapse too.
Anyway, let me regale you with another story about my dear mum and her trip to Edinburgh (from London).
Not thrilled about flying, I booked her a train ticket and a reserved seat. Once she'd arrived O called her to ask about the journey....
"Awful" she said. "Richard, you know how I hate seats facing backwards"
"Sorry" I quicky replied "but why didn't you ask the person opposite you if you could exchange seats"
"I couldn't", she said, "there was no-one there to ask !"
Bless her

In a similar vein ...
We recently attended a wedding in San Antonio, about 200 miles from Houston. Lots of out of town guests and the wedding was superbly planned. On each table at the reception and at brunch the next morning there was a flower arrangement, in the middle of which was a replica of the Eiffel Tower. Apparently the groom had proposed to the bride at the top of the tower (is this good or what?). The bride's grandmother remarked to the bride that it was a thoughtful touch to give the out-of-town guests a taste of Texas by having an oil derrick on each table ....

Anything goes
Look out ladies! Here comes a fella!
I have been staying clear of the other male v female postings but feel brave enough to join in here as you seem a tame bunch - not sure about Maddi of course.
Yes it is Canarios and I recall Laranja do Sol when Small World had it and had "Muri Birds" running it. The owner of Small World was someone called Murchison or something and he must have been on an ego thingy with his staff. They did the summer in Carvoeiro and then the winter as chalet girls.
It was pretty interesting in those days when a new lot of "virgin" Muri Birds and their first rampant guest used to roll into town
Aah memories
