Smoking Ban

Digger I agree, tiresome subject...
If people wish to smoke, and reduce their lifespan then let them do it! I personally dont like being treated like a lepper just because I light a cigarette (even had a moan on the beach)
For the non-smokers STAY AT HOME in the, no doubt purified air that you have pumped into your living space.
Consider an oxygen tent...like Mr M Jackson
Even a badge!!!

Iyhink some of you have missed the point of this post ,we have not banned selling or buying fags, just smoking them in pubs ,if the boys realy want to save our lives why not ban them all together.Most modren pubs in ireland have stste of the art filtration systems,ionisers the lot,this is just flexing of polictical muscle,just pushing the line to see how far they can go,this is scarier then we all think.Please also remember for a lot of rural dwellers the pub is their only social outlet and provides much more then just a drink.

Good point Gerry, smokers vs. non-smokers aside you have to wonder what´s next?

Are they going to ban alcohol in pubs too? What about a public farting ban? - I mean, I know people who can stun a rhino with a well placed bowel function, surely that can´t be healthy...

You'd have thought that watching one's father cough his lungs up on his deathbed while you held his hand would put anyone off smoking, wouldn't you?

Well, it didn't do it for my sister. No sooner had dad gasped his last breath in the hospice when my sister turned to me and said, "I'm just going out for a fag!"

Isn't it sad?

I cannot wait for smoking to be banned in public places. It can't come soon enough for me.

I know you smokers are going to say that you enjoy smoking and that you see no harm in doing it in public. Well I enjoy a good shit, but if I were to do it at the table next to yours in a restaurant you would go beserk!

As far as I'm concerned, shitting and smoking in public are both disgusting. If I promise not to shit, do you promise not to smoke? Sounds fair to me!

I did use the term “technicolor yawn” which means vomit/vomiting (Australian origin) to describe, as an ex-smoker, how this topic made me feel.

I'm with you Michael - one of the reasons we avoid some of the restaurants in CVO is because the tables are placed so close together there is no chance of avoiding the smoke wafting over from other diners (Chef Antonio's being a prime example). Totally gross when you're trying to enjoy your salmon or whatever.
