Have just found a site with the Matabixo webcam without the advert banner. It does seem to be very up to date but at least you can see the whole of the view.

Thanks for that Polly..thats an excellent view of whats going on in square :)
But it won't be a square now will it? Think I might miss the 'cosiness' of the former set up.

That could be said for the whole of Carvoeiro

but, progress is progress, and lets hope it continues to remain tasteful at least.

I am interested in the 'avenue of trees'..but will it 'look' right?..and I hope there will be some benches /seating and some nice tubs of flowers :)

Having known CVO for only 4 years a" cozy " is hardly a description I would apply to the traffic chaos the the centre had become.

Even in othe off season the car ruled , we all remember the trafic deaths caused by a rogue motor cyclist.
Anything that reduces the number and speed of cars can only be benefit and actualy could contribute to a return to the village it once was.

I keep looking at the pictures of the square and I still can`t see how the traffic will go when it
comes from the in road and how will the enormous holiday coaches that drop off at the Carvoeiro Sol
manage, the in road doesn`t look wide enough, or am I totally confused and most of the traffic will use
the other road which is in and out at the moment ??? We shall be out in June but in the meantime I am
confused can anyone fill me in.

Maybe I used the wrong word but I wasn't referring to the traffic or Carvoeiro in general but to the 'old' square where I liked to sit, either on the round bench in the middle or on the sea wall...to me that was 'cosy', specially in the evenings when there was music and watching the Portuguese dance, that was nice :)
Maisie Im confused too..can't make head nor tail of it all...... :?

And yes EMM, I remember the tragic deaths, very sad business :(..and when living there in the early 90s, I recall that Carvoeiro was always busy traffic-wise.

looking at the matabixo webcam, there looks to be a lot of activity going on. April 9 has been mooted on here as opening day but I can't see that. But am i right in thinking that I can see people using the path on the right hand side to walk to the beach?

Had a look at Polly's suggested webcam link to the Matabixo - however it seems to be stuck on 4th April at 1400 hours.

The two at www.praiacarvoeir.com show latest streaming, but the newly erected canopies over the restaurant tables now restrict the view on the main camera.

exactly my comment re the canopies. I should think its fiine underneath when the sun is glaring, but not so good on days where you prefer no canopy. Re from the webcam point of view, view is restricted and as I mentioned in a previous thread you can no longer wave at friends sipping drinks who know you will be watching from the web cam from afar.
