How do we open a Branch Office in Portugal ?

Do you think that TD is also referring to us Yankee's up North too...or are we another "race"???

Well it's been an interesting thread to read despite all the bickering.

I see all your points.

I am moving over to Portugal next year and have been doing a lot of research in what I would need to open a business. I've been trying to get the right paperwork sorted out before I leave, etc...

This was all going well until one of my portuguese friends told me that even if I did obtain all the paperwork I thought I needed, I would still have to endure the slow system in Portugal and the obstacles which would be thrown in along the way.

I must say that I am so looking forward to moving and hope that I will enjoy the whole experience without losing too many feathers but I do realise that it's not going to be an easy ride.

I'm not actually English although I've been living and working in London for 9 years now but I think than on certain levels, all countries have their own problems when it comes to getting things done.

I really appreciated reading the truth about people's experiences of running businesses in Portugal. At least as ktee says, it's for the benefit of other people.

Anyway, let's hope that it will be more of an enjoyable experience than anything else.

To be honest, even reading all the problems that you have encountered, I sometimes feel that anything is better than being in London at the moment.

The joys of sniffing someone's armpit whilst crushed on the Tube at 5pm everyday is something I am going to leave behind with no regrets whatsoever!
