Not good news if you prefer BA to Easyjet

I've re-booked some of my flights onto the new BA ones but now have to wait until GB/Easyjet deal is complete before I can have a refund on the others. Beware if you have Heathrow bookings as they have now all been cancelled and transferred to Gatwick (you may not be notified of this, I wasn't) and BA are very reluctant to adhere to their statement on 'Commercial Policy - GB franchise information which states you can have a refund on any GB Heathrow flights providing you do so by 1 December. Most of my bookings were Heathrow but BA are now insisting that as they have been cancelled and transferred to Gatwick refunds are not possible until the deal is complete. This is likely to be a long and drawn out affair as it is so so difficult to actually speak to anyone at BA.

I can see that the BA website is still showing GB Airlines flights post the end of March completion date for the sale. Does anyone know if these flights can still be booked (and will then become Easyjet flights)?

Scorpion - yes you are right. Anything booked for dates post end of March on Gb Airways will transfer to Easyjet or you will offered a refund.

Thanks - does that apply even now? ie if can these be booked today knowing that they will become EJ flights? (Not that the prices are all that attractive for the dates I want to travel).

Yes, anything booked now on GB will transfer into Easy

Are we sure about that???? My information is that BA will start a service on 1st April using their own planes. I ASSUME

that my booking, which is with BA will be transferred to the BA service.

Bruce - If it is BA and not GB ie BA codes as opposed to G followed by numbers starting with 6 then they will continue with BA . Only GB flights will transfer to Easy

These codes LGW/FAP / LGW will stay as BA on new service irrespective of when they were booked or the day of travel.

GB Airways have started to send out e mails to those people who have flights booked for the post Easy jet takeover offering either refunds or conversion to Easyjet flights.

Extract from mail ....

‘ Once the sale completes, your flight will be operated by easyJet and will be subject to easyJet's terms and conditions. The price of your ticket, departure and arrival airports, dates and times will remain unchanged from your original booking. easyJet will offer one free hold bag* per passenger, while food and refreshments will be available to buy on board.’

BA have now removed all the GB Airways flights to Faro for the summer and they are now on the Easyjet site at what appears to be higher prices! Booked mine on Sunday for £84rtn on the BA site and they are now £119 on Easyjet! plus the hold luggage cost.

What is interesting is that BA are advertising their own flights from LGW to Faro after April 1st, under a different flight number BA2696 instead of BA6884.

I have mailed BA making the point that I booked with BA, not GB Airways, and expect them to honour my bookings by transferring me to the new BA2696.

Let's see what happens!

sorry, probably coming into this late but is it being said above that BA are showing flights to Faro, after the sale of GB airways goes through to Easyjet.

I did travel Easyjet once and quite frankly was happy to pay the slightly higher price of BA for a considerably lower stress level for the past 3 years.

We used to use GO until Easyjet bought them & ruined that service

Ive re-booked my flights with Easyjet direct and actually saved £55 in the process...assuming, of course that I get the promised re-fund from Easyjet/GB Airways. If not....I just double booked!!!!
