Driving back towards Carvoeiro today I noticed just outside Lagoa centre just off the main road a large festival or concert type event taking place, anyone any idea what it is, and is it worth taking a visit this week ? There appeared to be hundreds of people attending ??

It's Fatacil - on every year towards the end of August - I think it opened today and will be on until a week Sunday. Lots of stalls, crafts, food and live music.

We went yesterday and really enjoyed it, very much like the Bath and West show which is held every year in Somerset. Loads of craft stalls which were very good, not just the usual touristy stuff, as well as trade stands, good food areas, then in the evening (which we did not stay for) there is entertainment. Well worth a visit. Starts at 4.00pm till 1am. 4 euros to get in.

Could anyone give me a bit more information about the Fatacil? Where abouts is it on the main road and what time does it open of a morning?

Visited last night, great event with hundreds of trade stalls and local produced goods, including some superb food ! Thousands of people there last night, kids get in free with 4 Euros per adult. Theres a few things for kids like bouncy castle and quad cycle bikes, plus farm animals, but mainly its stalls selling Portugese nice quality hand crafted goods. There are 2 stages for live music, I would recommend if you plan a visit to go when it gets dark, as the place has a really good atmosphere when its all lit up and the musics on. All in all well worth a visit, at least just to sample some excellent Portugese fast food.
