There is a new Barclays, under construction in Carvoeiro. They are converting an old villa into a bank (I heard them start this morning at 7 am!!)..
For any Barclays clients, or clients to be...it will be more or less opposite "Cafe Fino" & "Hotel Mirachoro". Where the old blue and white villa is on the corner.

But of course this is not the " REAL BARCLAYS " bank as we know it in the Uk more of a franchise.

What is the name of this villa, does anyone know? Only 7 weeks til we are out in CVO, can't wait!

Whilst we are on the subject of Barclay's, has anyone had any problems paying in credits from the UK to Gibraltar recently. Because we have, they keep losing them somewhere down the line and owe us £1097 at the moment. By the way the local Barclay's in Portugal have no access to the UK accounts. Nor do Gibraltar for that matter. Totally independent. Feel like throwing a brick the window at the moment

Construction or should I say demolition is well under way, they practically tore down the old villa. I just feel a bit sorry for those in the holiday villas next to all the noise and dust

If its the same villa I think it is, It was the first place my husband stayed when he first came to cvo in 1983 when it was a bed & breakfast run by a old portugeese lady.

Loretta, the villa is a one storey, past a two storey one.It was owned by theFig family, who moved there in the late 60`s. Mr.Fig really devoted himself to the local community, specially the football team,which did quite well at the time.
This villa was called " A Favorita".

I know it well and once did some garden work there for the late Mrs Figue.

This news saddens me some what. It is the place that my friend was living in, the one who died last year. It was the place where I last saw her alive, after a very pleasant afternoons BBQ party.

But life moves on doesn't it?

Thats the one...it was getting quite run down. It is ashame it wasn't restored....it will now be another modern neon flashing building. Progress?!

I thought Barclays was next door to Shoe World.....where is this new branch?????

Opens end of May under stewardship of Felix Lavrador currently at Barclays Lagoa and ex Credito Predial Lagoa.

Speaks English and German (and Portuguese of course )
