Hi all,

I suspect the following shall sound slightly surreal, but please bear with me.

A couple of years ago, I was in Carvoeiro with friends. At one of the gift shops on the main road leading out of the central square (not up the hill), I bought a small stuffed donkey toy for my six year old back home. She fell instantly in love, and has since gone nowhere without it.

Of course, you'll probably see the next thing coming: she's lost it, and is absolutely distraught. Right now she is searching every nook of the house in the hope he may turn up, despite the fact that we lost him in Morocco.

So, my question is: are these toys still sold in Carvoeiro? I know it's a long shot, but you never know :-)

The toy was a donkey, approximately the size of a tennis ball, dark blue / black. He had huge floppy ears with a pink lining, a tail, and was loosely stuffed with what felt like foam pellets. His eyes were made from one piece of hard plastic. And he is actually quite cute.

Obviously I don't foresee anyone roaming the town in search of these, but just in case anyone had spotted one, or ran one of the shops, both myself, and Zoe, would be massively appreciative if you could let us know.

Many thanks,

Tom

That's bad news Tom :( My granddaughter has had a cherished Teddy that has been her constant companion since a baby. I anticipated a major catastrophe if it was ever lost and managed to get an identical one on Ebay. Teddy has had a very eventful life, not least spending the night in the middle of the road by Paraiso beach. He no longer has any stuffing and very little in the way of fur and spends most of his time on the bed. Teddy #2 has now been called into action.

So, you could strike lucky on Ebay.

Hi Tom and LB

The same thing happened to us (its probably happened to everyone!)
My twins both were given white fluffy sheep, one of the boys wasn't too taken with it but the other was, however Alex the one who loved the little sheep, threw it from his buggy over the wall at the top of the hill into the sea in CVO town. Luckily we were able to 'borrow' Tom's sheep and give it to Alex.
What I'm getting at, is I know how you feel and next week when I am in Carvoeiro I will have a scout around for a donkey. If you want to pm me with any other details of where you might of bought it. I know its a long shot but you never know.....

Hi guys, thanks for the responses. I have had a look on ebay, but I think this may be a very rare donkey!

The only other details I have are where I bought it: a small touristy shop on the road leading out of the central square - where there's a lot of such shops. The donkey itself actually is a bit dog-like, sits on four legs, and has stupidly large ears. The tail is flat, with a furry tassle at the end, and he also has a furry mane made of the same material. He is dark blue / black.

Cav Kid, you are a star, that's the one. Also, huge thanks to Tricky for keeping an eye out as well.

You probably already know what this will mean to my girl.

Cav Kid, I'll drop you a PM.

Amazing stuff, thanks so much.
