Can anybody help me? :? If I bring out a Sky digital decoder box, card and dish from the UK will it work in Portugal? If it will not work "out of the box" will if work after modifications and, if so, what are they?

You will need a much bigger dish for Portugal than the one you have in the UK, otherwise the card and decoder should be ok.

Hello K 'teee,

Do you know how one would get around the fact that Sky inist on having the box linked to a phone line? I understand that this is the medium used for transmitting the box, info ie number to Sky? Can the box number be phoned over ? I had a BBC card but that has finished and not giving recpetion so the box and dish - a very large one is sitting there redundant and I need to order a second Sky card. Any advice or help will be appreciated
:)

Ours isn't attached to the phone line - in fact I know people in the UK who aren't connected to the phone line either.

Speak to Cristina at RJ Tecnica on 282 356520 she is very helpful and speaks English.

There is also a web site called Digital Spy which is incredibly helpful, has a forum too if you cannot find the answer on the main site. You can also do a search on the site, in this case something like . . .

sky and phoneline and portugal

or whatever. I haven't posted the URL as I am not sure whther it may be inappropriate advertising but a google search on digital spy will get you straight there.

Im fairly sure the phoneline thing is just so you can go on the internet with your set top box, for those interactive features and things.
