Does anyone know any websites that work.. that translate english to portugese and then vise versa! The ones we have tryed dont really work!

Without wishing to be rude, you are writing in Essexgirl idiom and expecting the babelfish to understand and translate it. Either really simplify the English text or hope that one of our bilingual experts will help you out.

It struggles with incorrect spelling as well

I think that's the point. It will take a too literal meaning. Your original post has been edited out so I can't remember what you were trying to translate but try something simple like "Is this your personal phone number or is it your work number. This comes out as É este seu número de telefone pessoal ou é ele seu número do trabalho which is probably very poor grammatically but should make sense.

okay thankyou!. i dont think i can trust using it though, incase it really doesnt make sense at all. and it takes to long to try and learn another launguage so we may just be stuffed!

Ellie, I have just tried Sysanstroft from your link, with a pack of Portuguese cold remedy tablets, and while it translates "dores de garganta" as "throat pains", it gives the translation of "rouquidao" as "rouquidao", whereas I have found from a dictionary that it means "hoarse". It translates "anginas" as "anginas" although I don't think these tablets are for heart complaints.
Mind you, I didn't have any better luck with babelfish!
Perhaps the answer is a better Portuguese/English dictionary.

You are right Dennis, neither Babel or Systran are that reliable and a good dictionary is much better to use..
