Lost garage door controller

Hello All

Our apartment block has parking underneath the building as most do in our area and is accessed through a sliding metal door, unfortunately we have lost our controller and need to purchase a new one. Does anyone know if this is possible and can other controllers be programmed to operate our door. I tried to ask in the local diy shop but they didnt understand my average portuguese.

Any help appriciated

Is it a wireless or infra-red transmitter? I expect it will be wireless but if it is IR then you can by TV contrllers that can learn from others. You set it in learn mode and say here comes the code to open etc. If it's wireless you will probably have to get it through the door manufacturer/supplier and pay an arm and a leg

Im not sure, its a 10 year old door and the controller used to look like a car alarm fob.

Try the Electronic gate show room next to fatacil next to the council vet, that where I got mine from.

Chamberlain electric doors tend to have a round blue Smilo remote which can be programmed for your door.
There is a receiver attached to the door opener and to program a new sender this is the procedure,
1 Press and hold down the receiver button for three seconds.
2 The LED lights up and you release the button
3 Within 10 seconds press any button on the new sender for two seconds . (There can be upto 4 buttons on the one sender)
5 The lED on the receiver will flash three times if procedure memorised correctly.

There is a garage door shop at the end of the street ,left past the health centre in Lagoa, and they should be able to help you. These remotes are pretty expensive.
It maybe you have another type of remote and it would be best to borrow a neighbours to obtain a replacement. Forget hardware or DIY stores you would be wasting your time.
Although in theory they all work on 433mhz not all remotes will work with another type of receiver. I have my own door and also there is a communal door. I can program the communal door remote to open my door but not the other way round. My remote is not a Smilo like the communal door.
NB Do not press the receiver button for more than the three seconds .

I went to the shop in Lagoa and they are sorting it for me.

25 euros for a new fob and a man comes to program it for you.
