We want to take 10 friends from the UK for a good Chicken Piri Piri in Carvoeiro at night. We would normally go out of town and whilst Chicken George is good, we need somewhere with more choice of wine. Any recommendations?

Simple cook it yourself and get the others to bring the wine. If space is at a premium do it on the beach. But my favourite place for 10 in a warm balmy evening is Algar Seco down all the steps to the bar/food and fab views

Since civility costs nothing , best go to guia for piri piri chicken, west along the 125 , reputed to have been invented there.

There are many restaurants in cvo which do piri piri, Colombo's is big enough for the 10 of you and do a reasonable chicken piri piri, probably not the best but great place and great people.

We took my nephew to Columbo's & he had the chicken piri piri, it was nothing like the real thing, chicken breasts rather than the spatchcock chicken & served with rice & vegetables. He said it was really nice but not the authentic piri piri he had wanted.

Try the traditional portuguese restaurants like O Cantinho or the ones with bbq grills like the Mistral.

We went in last night to Colomo's and my SIL had the chicken piri pirii. It was the 'flattened' chicken with the leg and breast and was served with boiled potatoes and veg, very nice indeed........

That's odd? I would agree with Phil though that one of the restaurants he suggests is your best option, Columbo's has so many other good things on it's menu, it's not somewhere I would go just for chicken piri piri & it will be a lot more expensive than in the more traditional restaurants.

I agree blue, I was just answering the post as he was looking for somewhere that would take ten blokes and was in cvo, it was only a suggestion, maybe we just got a good one that night.

A Velha Lanterna ( at the corner of the road to the municipal mercado ) serve Africkan chicken piri piri and it is just as good as Guia restaurants.

Ive always enjoyed the chicken piri piri at A Galeria (up restaurant hill on the right)...you get the flattened half chicken and very tasty

The one we used to have at O'Casarao on corner of Lagoa was always very good but not been there in years!

I see you say "take friends out" but I would suggest the takeaway "Galo d'Ouro" on Rua Dos Pescadores. My mouth is watering just posting that

Call and collect. Ps. for the ladies. Usually of an evening you can find a GNR member, in uniform and pretty often in those tight, long boots collecting food. Ahem. My partner has long given up my approval of those boots.

We tried the piri piri chicken from Galo d'ouro last time we were there in september we have mean't to try it before and never got round to it and we were not dissapointed it was lovely and we will look forward to using it on our next visit

Yes , must agree ricardos chicken is the best in the village , he also does beautiful suckling pig and home made bread on a wed/sun .
