We stayed in carvoeiro mid April, we had a great time, did not use much suntan lotion, but still spent time on the beach with our children. We are hoping to return in the children's October half term (end Oct beginning of Nov) and would like to roughly know how the weather has been in past Octobers. Thank you to anyone who replies.

 You will probably find it about the same as the spring, nice during the day but cold in the evening. Have a lovely time :)

Last October was fabulous, we had friends out for the last 2 weeks & they didn't see a cloud in the sky the entire fortnight, the sea was warm & the evenings balmy, unlike this spring & early summer which has been bloody awful!

I was in CVO mid October last year and the weather was excellent, better than early April had been. Shorts & T shirts every day, afternoons on the beach , swimming in the sea (which seemed warmer than in June/July) and I got bitten by the mossies in the evening.

Someone living there told me that October is their favourite month in the Algarve.

I agree with ceh, last october was fabulous.
The best time of year to visit CVO. The weather was hot, spend the whole week swimming in the sea (honest) and it was just quiet enough to get a table anywhere without booking, but busy enough to have a buzz.
The beaches were quiet too. We have booked for October half term which is even later and goes into November, but no worries.

there's my video of the half-term on October 2006. It was wet but there were nice days as well.

Tricky is right, it can be lovely Ocrober into November....but you have to be prepared for a torrential downpour or 2 as well!

We often come out for my wifes birthday at the end of November, and still get to sunbathe, even then!

You definately need a fleece or something for when the sun is in, or it gets dark.

The other thing, make sure sure accommadation has some heating because the evenings and nights can get a little chilly.

I have 2 daughters and have lived here 20 years. I use their birthdays to predict the weather.
Elder daughters birthday is 4th June and we say that is when summer turely starts. In those 20 years only once has it rained on or after that date enough to have to think about having any other sort of a party other than a pool party.
Younger daughters birthday is 28th October, and only once in her 18 years has she been able to have a birthday party outside.

I know this sounds odd but is is a fairly ture picture of the weather here, as any Mum will understand, when trying to organise a party for 20 kids, the weather can make a lot of difference

October 06 was OK towards the end but dodgy in the middle. October 07 was lovely - beach every day.

October is usually really good but then you can never really be too sure. I have never know a May as bad this one!!

August last year, we had torrential rain & storms, some poor chap in Silves was struck by lightning & killed.

Thank you for all that replied, we decided that october half term must be better in Carvoeiro, than in England!! So we will be back mid October and very much looking forward to it. Sun or Rain with the nintendos and good books!!

With such a positive attitude, you're bound to have a great time. Wish you well on the weather lottery.
