Just returned back from the village had a very relaxing holiday
and it was great to meet up with old and new friends thanks to those who turned up for the meet im Boa Vida on Tuesday the 15th i have a picture which i will get posted of us all together.

With the greatest respect to the younger generation i see the village slowly changing which i hope i will be proved wrong i was amazed
the clientel that Mungos is now attracting it was full of young people who have now taken over the bar in the evenings, with a few behaving really out of order, when speaking to the owner he was really struggling to cope
with the behaviour of some of them, my concern is more bars may also become like this, business is tough for bars and restaurants and shops
as i have spoken to many of the owners when over on my visit, they must also make estrado do farol more attractive ie resturant hill as in my opinion it is getting very tired looking, although eating out is still relatively
value for money the price for drinks is slowly gettinging out of hand with exception to a few bars who havent hiked there prices up.

I want to emphasise once again i have nothing against younger people, but in todays climate bars are unlikely to turn away the masses as business is business unfrortunately those like my self who are over 4 times a year would find that enviroment hard to mix in.

We were over the beginning of June and I noticed a few bars playing loud music. In fact we had to go inside one bar we were drinking at (rather than sit outside) to hear ourselves speak as the bar next door music was too loud. The clientel was mostly young people.

We go to Carvoeiro to chill out, eat nice meals, drink good wine, enjoy good music and meet old friends and new. If we wanted loud music etc we would go to the larger resorts. I know from reading this forum you will find young people wanting the same. Lets hope Carvoeiro doesn't change and keeps its charm that we all have come to love.

What is happening is that whilst carvoeiro has always been a family resort, our children who are now growing up, still are of an age to come on holiday with us. 16/17 year olds now want something a bit more exciting and this seems to be loud music and alcohol.
Its just evolution. Its the way of the world.

Why come in July and August (school holidays families with kids of all ages ) enjoy the peace and quiet of the other 10 months.(That is assuming middle age golfers can be quiet in the pubs

What Tricky means is that it gives her the excuse to act outrageously!

I am never out at night, always back at the villa with my young son, but hopefully things aren't moving in the wrong direction.....

I have just opened and read the report and that I did find worrying

Having been in town most nights, I saw nothing untoward, it was just the usual friendly place with no rowdiness. However what happens after 12pm. when I am tucked up in bed, is anyone's guess. But perhaps thats where us over 25's should be at that time and leave the late night bars to the teenagers

I don't recall ever being in bed by Midnight during my CVO hols

Ive been on a few bar crawls (Shhshh don't tell the kids or grandkids)...remember getting home 5am one morning after ending up in LSD.
Not sure whether that made me feel young or a whole lot older!

But I remained upright and got the key in the lock(after a struggle)..ask Thunderbolt..she'll vouch for me

Mine was less generous, she always said that if I wasn't in bed by 10, I should come home

I've read the Holiday Truths report about the surf board etc being taken during the night from an apartment. Although this experience is not not what anyone would want to happen to them on holiday, I'm not sure why anyone would expect it NOT to happen. I bet the surf board would be kept indoors if the owner was on holiday in the UK, so why not overseas?
In fact, surely a holiday resort is likely to have more opportunist thieves than most places, not less (or fewer??).
I always take my swimwear, towels etc inside at night as well, just in case.....

I have reached the stage of my life where loud music and rowdy behaviour wind me up, so I avoid it. I have been spending 6 - 8 weeks in CVO for the last 5 years but I go Spring and Autumn. The weather is usually good and the atmosphere peaceful and relaxing. You still get the odd drink related annoyance but nothing too bad. In the Summer I go to Italy where people enjoy their drink without getting drunk, enjoy their food and love to promenade. the scenery is fantastic and the people lovely. Limoni on Lake Garda is my favourite place and Verona and Venice are a few hours drive away. The overall Carvoeiro/Italy package is my ideal.
