swap
Digger--agree with Pammie (nice to see you back here pammie)---its not crazy----do you know that its quite a going concern here in UK for swapping homes for holidays?
In fact we put ours on site for this very scheme about 2 years ago --but no one seemed interested in coming to this rural part of England--so we got precisely nowhere on that one!
There was also a TV prog.on this same subject--very interesting to watch and it seemed to be successful in most cases.
Wish you luck with it!

Howayis, just thought the idea mooted above seemed like a great one since as most of us have at least one property empty at some time during the the year, some in ireland england n.ireland the states etc, nearly forgot portugal. In my case i have to get the wolfies minded, the cats fed,and jenny has to have her belly rubbed from time to time, not to mention the fish in the bath.An all in one house sitter would be a godsend now and again sure it would be worth leaving the booze out.Its not as if we would have to work it out one for one i.e rod is hardly interested in coming to tipperary ,but if cowboy looked after rods place, ellie looked after my place(you just strike me as a dogcatfish friendly kinda soul) i could look after cowboys place, wouldn,t it make life a bit simpler and there has to be a fairly handy way to check each other out.Would anybody even half interested please reply.By the way i,m not talking about someone with a 2500 sow farrowing unit and 120 milk cows currently starting to calf, whose heading off to austraila for 3 months,no no just maybe walk the dogs and water the kids or something.

swapping
3-bed bungalow---nice gardens--middle of countryside/close to Lincolnshire wolds (or as Mike swindingy once joked about his cottage--in the ass end of nowhere!)---20 mins from Skeg-----no pets--but you must feed my wild birds-including a cock pheasant and his harem--------
Gerry--doesnt mine sound a piece of cake to what youre offering me?
But youre right -- I am an animal lover---and who can resist Irish wolfhounds--itll be good practise for the "wolf pack" that Ive recently adopted

Get a grip, especially you guest (“is that you gerry” was her catchphrase). If cowboy stands in for nora, then who stands in for guest?
My first topic/post is perhaps a little ambiguous and was sent before discussing the idea properly with my wife. I’ve heard about this “swapping homes” thing but this is not what we have in mind.
Should a fellow expat in Algarve be looking for a change of scenery, they could pop up to Lisbon for the weekend B&B with us, and then perhaps at a later date we could stay with them. And we all save a lot of money on hotel bills.

I do think that what Digger was referring to was something a bit different, however as a response to your post Digger, it cross fertilised into house swapping which is actually a well tried and tested concept with tens of thousands devotees around the world (and ok we let a bit of humour about menageries creep in - how can I apologise enough for this gross misconduct).
Anyway folks if anyone could or might be up for it perhaps we should take it to another post heading so we don't upset anyone.
