A pussy/or not?

Not really to do with CVO---but Im sure you must have similar problems with certain hairy things------I was cooking dinner in the kitchen last night--when suddenly--something small dark and furry shot across the floor scaring me witless--I haven't seen one for years --and I leapt up on a chair screaming for help(which was a long time coming!)------------though it was small --the tail was "that long"!
Now I dont have a cat --but if i was to buy one what type should it be--are there ones that make good "mousers"?
Ive also bought,today, a mousetrap and a friendly trap (one you can trap then let it go)--I do go for the friendly one really-as dont like to kill anything--but we go off on Monday for about 9-10days--and i dont relish the thought of coming home to find a rodent population having taken up residence!
I dont like the thought either --of laying down poison!

well if you lived in canada it would have been a moose...loose in the hoose

but as you dont...perhaps it small nessie

anyway please dont kill it..i always save even spiders and little beetles

the portuguese here throw down poison which all animals then eat....dogs die a terrible death

and what would I do with it when I go on hol?
No Martin---I couldnt and wont put down poison-that I can promise!
Living in a completely rural area i do think its a fieldmouse--so will probably put down friendly trap and let it out in field at back.
Think(hope) it came in through back door-as haven't found any holes
My auntie had a big ginger Tom that was frightened of mice--she used to put it where they were--and it would run out with its fur on end

I have a cat who when it comes to catching animals should get a medal!! I think the secret is don't feed them too much and make them stay outside most of the time, they'll aways find a warm place to sleep. My cat comes and goes as it wants and stays in when it wants. I have a very happy cat and no mice or rats!!

Sounds like youve got it about right with your cat Pinkie---a working cat!
anyway--you're right--if animals are too pampered --they just get fat and lazy!
I remember --when the kids were young ,that we did have a cat--and she lived mainly in the shed outside---only thing was-- she became quite wild--and so we couldn't handle her---but don't recall having mice then!
Don't recall having mouse problems in Lagoa---but I never really got used to living with the little geckos that lived on the ceiling and behind the pictures on the wall!

I didn't know that---if I had--i wouldnt have been so hasty in making Hub tcatch them and remove them outside!But the little beggars always found their way back

What I found the most disturbing --was watching them on bedroom ceiling and then--worried about going to sleep--in case I slept with my mouth open

horrible thought--but now youve told me theyre lucky---maybe Ill look on them a bit differently now

Yes they do Mads--thank god----mind you Ive never studied them long enough to have a good look--but dont they have long tongues like the chameleons

or have I got that wrong?
What I did love though --were the little praying mantis--there were many of these at the large garden I worked on---usual colour is green--but those I saw there were a "bone" colour --I remember one day I had lot to do --so young Jamie came to help--he was weeding a bed by the pool and as he looked down a praying mantis was there on his hand--he said it had a look of intelligence and that the little black dots of its eyes followed his movements.
He got quite upset one day when we were shopping---on a box in the shop he noticed a mantis--but the shopkeeper noticed it and swotted it with her broom

--he said it was rotten of her as they are harmless.

my remark was never intended as a slight to you who posted an eminently sensible subject. However you have to admit that there are some members of the fairer sex visiting this website who do sometimes let their minds wander on subjects that could have a double meaning.
