i know its a bit early...but here are my tips to stop the mosies.

they dont like wind...living on a hill side where there is a constant wind we never get em...use a fan blowing on the bed is my suggestion.

also i lived at penina which is low lying and covered in eucalpytus trees..i thought we would be covered in them but not one as apparently they dont lke the smell of eucalpytus trees and leaves

plug ins work well as well but not those that emit a high powered pitch useless in my experience.

I think the smell of lemon puts them off as well--you can buy the citron sprays at health shops----of course you know --that apparently --its only the "female " of the species that bites
I read somewhere that they usually go to bit lower down--near the ankle! and that they are attracted to a cheese smell (feet !) so on last hols --I put a little dish of cheese in the bedroom---and luckily didnt get too many bites

What about sleeping in a draught under a pile of eucalyptus leaves? Would you wake up with a stiff neck loking like a panda? Sorry being facetious!

The only things that work as far as I know are the plug in thingies with the liquid - little smell or inconvenience and NO bites.

I recall a great story about the noise emitting ones! There was a guy known as Foxy living out here in the early 80's - sort of retired Hells Angel. He bought some of the noise emission devices from a well known chap about town (still here!)

He tried them and came in to Smilers with plenty of bites. I told him that what he should do is leave the windows open at night as the high pitched noise enraged the mozzies and without any escape route they turned their anger on the sleeping person. He tried this the next night - you should have seen him! He was one big bite from head to toe - terible really but I never thought he would actually try it.

Didn't get his money back - but who did in those days?!

perhaps its him who runs the round up bar!!

forgot to add of course mosquito nets....i have seen them here for sale..worked quite well when i lived in africa.

i did hear but dont know if its true that there is a radio sation in poland which broadcasts at night a high pitched noise....you just leave the radio on all night. and no its not sir cliff singing

can t do anything to escape mosquitos...whod have thought it...siberia!!

This year I bought the new portable, battery run anti mosquito thingies. I found they worked really well and can be put anywhere. I have found that the plug in ones leave a yellow mark on the wall which doesn't go even after painting. the new ones are blue and use a large size battery, change the battery and chemical bit at the same time.Has anyone noticed the size of the mozzies at the moment, I'm sure there are more this year than other years!!

I’ve found those aerosol spray cans work fine. I give the bedrooms a serious spray in every corner a couple of hours before going to bed then shut the doors. Five minutes before bed I open the windows leaving the lights off, and close them again before switching lights on.

Funny you should mention it - I had no problems whatsoever with mozzies this summer...No plugs, no nets doors left open for hours on end.

All I can think of that I changed since last summer was my deodorant - Axe, could it be the "Axe Effect"? Or in this case the inverse-"Axe Effect"?

In fifteen years of holidaying in Turkey (mostly during June) I have been bitten less than a dozen times - and four of them were in one week!

Sharen (who is bitten upon arrival - and departure - in the airport) says that when I die she's going to melt me down and sell me as a mozzy repellent!

I was told by man man in the carribean to slice a lime in half and rub the juice on to your skin and the mozzies wont go near you, I dont know if it works cos i never tried it but he said he swears by it

Being dark haired I suffer with mossie bites - my worst experience was in New Zealand where I got attacked by sand flies which are smaller than mossies but cause more damage!

Try taking Garlic Pearl capsules for approx 2 weeks - the smell of garlic is then released through the pores in your skin which the mossies detest!
