Re: english butchers
Why do you need a specifically English butcher??
The butcher at Carvoeiro market is excellent, as are the butchery departments at most of the Hypa-markets. We find the local butchery made burgers and sausages excellent for barbeques. Most of the butchers and assistants speak pretty good English.......though not necessarily Irish

Re: english butchers
You can get Irish sausages in Intermarche at a euro for each sausage
Re: english butchers
The beef mince from Intermarche is fine for burgers, and you can find ribs in most of the supermarkets, so don't think you will have a problem.
Re: english butchers
There is a new butcher on the " IN ROAD " where Blue Rock used to be.
The display looks impressive but we have not tried anything from there yet.
The young Portuguese butcher who used to run Blue Rock is now in Portimao ( adds in local papers ),
We now buy mince and make our own burgers adding whatever spices herbs we like. much better than readymade.

Re: english butchers
Totally agree, EMM, we always buy mince and make our own burgers. It's not that much trouble, and you can make them to suit your own taste. Most ready made lack flavour, or at least they do for us.
Re: english butchers
Lidl (Silves or Ferragudo) has very nice fresh pre-mixed burgers and/or meatballs. Very tasty and juicy. Try them.
Re: english butchers
Makro is also good for meat especially ribs, but to be honest as others have said why english in particular as you are in portugal and their sausages and ribs, steak, chicken and fish are all extremeley good from the local supermarkets espcially we find from Modelo.
Have a lovely Anniversay Party wherever you get your produce.

Re: english butchers
Have been using the local CVO butcher since we got here 9 days ago. Turkey Kababs lovely, steak pretty good too, so no worries there if you have to go local.

Hi does anybody no the name of the butchers or where to buy meat in Portimao? Also whats the name of the butchers in Carvoeiro? When i was last there it was Blue Rock but ive heard its changed. Thanks to anyone who can help
Re: english butchers
Hi Matthew,
I use the butchers in Portimao called Andifer who are near the railway station . The guy that used to work at Blue Rock works there. His name is Ivo (pronounced Evo as in the stick!) and can be contacted on 965787839 or the shop number is 282410590.
They have a great selection of meats including burgers, sausages and bacon. Mention the restaurant name and you may get a little extra but dont hold me to that .

Re: english butchers
The butcher in the market (mentioned earlier) is very good as is the meat, tried all sorts, steaks, lamb, chicken, burgers, no problem and we are fussy. Speaks very good English as well. Would not use supermarkets.

£1 a sausage, that's worse than the Marmalade.roy4eyes wrote:You can get Irish sausages in Intermarche at a euro for each sausage
