Colina Village

My wife and I have booked three weeks at Colina Village if February, along with two other couples. I was asked to pick a spot. Can anyone give me any information on this resort. Thanks JCanuck (Canada)

Hi JCanuck, you may want to look up the comments for Colina Village posted here in the forum (Tourist Developments). Or do a seach for comments in the General Forum. I have never stayed there, but had a look at the Apartments a few years ago and they are nice and large. They didn't have washing machines then, for me that is a "must" for a long stay. It is also a bit too far to walk to the village centre, so a car is advisable. Be sure to attend one of the "Canadian Meetings" starting in Feruary on Thursdays (3PM) at the Smiler's Bar right at the corner, where the road leads out of Carvoeiro towards Lagoa. Cheers from another Canuck, who can't wait to get there on Jan. 11, eh?

I have stayed at Colina Village a few times in the past and found it a pleasent enough place to stay, but I did find a few things that I was not happy with. February in the Algarve does have its cold nights, with the one or two electric heaters they furnished you could keep relatively warm as long as you could keep the electric ciruit breakers from kicking out. There are fireplaces in the apartments, but much to my dismay I found the flues do not draw very well causing smoke to backup into the apartment. I agree with Heimi about the lack of washing machines, this is also a problem, washing by hand is not my cup of tea. Now in all fairness to Colina Village some of these problems might have been corrected since our last stay, that I do not know.
