Can anyone please advise as to the best Supermarkets other than Marche. We have a car so can travel. I just found the Intermarche expensive and limited last year. We were only there a week so didnt have time to "shop" around.

We usually go to what was Modelo (can't remember the new name). It's off the big roundabout on the way out of Lagoa on the N125 towards Portimao.

No, that was Plus which is on the left just before you get to the N125 intersection from CVO. Pingo Doce is good for basic stuff but doesn't have the range of the place formally known as Modelo.

The old Modelo is Pao de Acucar. We always shop there now & is much cheaper than Intermarche which we are boycotting due to their extortionate prices.

10 mins drive toward portimao is the continente hypermarket at the Portimao retail park just off the 125.

Agree about Intermarche only go there as a last resort.

Great thing about the Retail Park is I can kill time in Decathlon whilst they are shopping :)

As well as the supermarket in Lagos on the turn towards the water park we use the Modelo in Silves which we find fantastic, it has the best fresh fruit and veg other than in the local market in Silves. Give it a try. :)

Hi all,

hate to be a pain but where is this Pao de Acucar/Modelo in relation to Colina de Lapa in Sesmarias?

Apologies for probable hopeless spelling.

Just wondering if its worth going there for prices instead of Marche which is the only one we actually know!!

Take the road to Lagoa, left at the N125 and it's the 3rd off the big roundabout. Just come out and it's pretty busy, so you may want to leave it a while.

"Sugarloaf has been open for about 12 months and is quite reasonable and is better priced, quieter and much better set out than Intermarche.
Only a few minutes longer drive west towards Portimao is the V large Conitinete at just of the 125.
