if you ruled Carvoeiro....?

Post by Guest »

If you ruled Carvoeiro what changes would you make.

well if I did, I would ban all the hire car companies parking their fleets in the main road and make them build a new car park (FREE FOR RESIDENTS..YES I INSIST) and park them there, so freeing up space.

what would you do??? 8)

Ooops I have gone serious and given this some thought.

There is not much we can do about the hire cars. In fact in the summer they are all on the road anyway and not parked up awaiting a hire. It is a fact of life that no matter how many car park spaces you provide they will always be filled when you want one.

Nice idea Martin though, and the idea of an off town car park witha FREE park and ride was one of those we discussed when I had my (brief) run at local politics.

The other problem in summer is the rubbish bins but that is getting "sort of sorted" with a Saturday collection.

What I would like to see is a midnight, or later hose down of the streets as they do in some towns in Spain. Nice'n'Fresh for the next morning.

i would like to see an avenue of trees planted as you enter Carvoeiro,
and some large palms by the tourist office.

and of course i would commission bronze statues to our two goddess..
the Lady Maddi and Lady Ellie..they would be found on the Rua Santa Biffa.

i think a pier as well on the cliff top so you could go out and look out and back and cvo

Well--an 'avenue of trees' Id go along with Martin(but then I would--wouldn't I!)---But Im not too keen on 'statues' as theyre not warm/living objects :)
But--if one was being suggested I would put forward 'Eva' as the model--shes younger and prettier----how about something along the lines of 'The Little Mermaid' in Copenhagan's harbour? and I know Eva is a fan of her creator--Hans Christian Anderson :) :)
Dont know about a 'pier' Martin---do we really need 'another' Southend/or Brighton? --and you can always take a boat trip to look back at that little horseshoe- shaped bay that is Carvoeiro :!:

I'd like to see some Stocks installed in the square where anyone caught spraying graffiti would be placed for 8 hours.

oohhh!--I love your 'medieval' thoughts Richard
Wouldn't there be a lot of mess to clear up afterwards--all those big squashy tomatoes etc----but --it could be fun

Richard - Why limit it to 8 hours? Make an overnight stay mandatory. I really hate grafitti - indeed any mindless act of vandolism, and would dearly love to catch the perpetrators red handed.

Make sure the poor guy in the stocks has his bum against a wall, you never know who could be creeping around in the early hours. Squashed tomatoes sound kinky Ellie  Do you think some wenching may be going on.

I am with Guest and Martin, you take your life in your hands crossing at times. And they cannot make the mistake that Spetses Town and Skiathos Town did and ban all vehicles except mopeds, 'cos weaving 16 olds, three to a bike are more scary than a professionally driven 12 wheeled delivered lorry.

Definatly agree with making the town pedestrianised (sp)
also the carpark in the centre of cvo should be turned into a a shady garden type area, and a wash through of the streets would be great.

a digital clock as you enter cvo saying the time..air temp and water temp

could be sponsored by cvo.com?

also as you leave a radar indicator saying whether the gnr are waiting just past the cespa station and offering a diversion

Carvoeiro has a quaint charm, which sadly is being spoilt now through too much building so wouldnt a digital clock be better off in Las Vegas or on a golf course?

How about elevating the pedestrian crossings and turning them into speed bumps like they have in the Cascais area? That should slow things down a little around town.
