Car Hire June, is this sharp pratice?

Post by Mike,Chislehurst »

Just been strolling around the web :( for car hire prices in June (including this web sites link) and a number, but certainly not all have this year included June as peak time ie June-September and not the usual July-September. Now is this because of the football or a general move to widen the peak season prices? :(

Car Hire June

Have always found www.auto-europe.co.uk prices to be the lowest, whatever time of year you go. They act as agents and book cars with local companies or the big operators, depending on availability but the price to us has always been cheaper than any other website.

Hi Mike I am inclined to think it is because of the football, in fact many sites I have been visiting are lumping June into peak season this year not only car hire but villa prices too. Some are dropping them again after the football and prior to 17 July which is definately indicative of it being due to the football - but we will have to wait to next year to be sure!!!!

Mike, go no further than zitauto in quarteria who are always the lowest on price and great service. They are not including june as peak season.
I do not know about sharp practise though - many property owners are charging more for rent in june because of the football!

Car Hire

Mike - Auto-Europe use BravaCar/Thrifty, or we have also had Hertz and Avis. All of them have had the cars at the airport for picking up. Thrifty are great 'cos you just leave the car in the car park when you return. The larger operators you have to take the car back to the off site place.

Don't do what I did on one of my house-hunting trips out here - not read the voucher properly so end up traipsing off to Europcar in their courtesy minibus only to find they'd got no record of my booking. Had to ring up husband (who'd booked the car - moral there somewhere) to find out where I should be going ! He didn't have the paperwork on him (it was at home) so I spent the next half hour ringing home trying to get teenage daughter out of bed (know the feeling ?) to find the necessary bit of paper in our study. However, it all ended well eventually, we found our villa and love Carvoeiro.

But, elsewhere on this forum YOR Car Hire has been mentioned, plus zitauto in Quarteiro so looks as tho' we've got lots of choice here. Can't vouch for the good looks of the reps (ref YOR comment) except seem to remember the first Thrifty guy was OK !

Guest - have you got contact details for the zitauto people ?

Hi Folks

I have never been able to manage one of these - "find **** carhire the cheapest everytime", I search the net starting with the company that we used last time and look for the cheapest all inclusive price and we end up using a different company almost every time we travel.

I’ve hired a car at Faro on numerous occasions, and never booked in advance; I just go to a number of different desks at the airport and take the best offer.

Usually a discount of about 20%, but this was a few years ago now, and when we liked to visit in mid May and mid Sept. not exactly peak season I know or indeed when there’s an international sporting event on.

Once again i ask the question why go past this website for car hire?if steen can put a website of this quality together why would his car hire be be less then best, weve used his service for the last couple of years and never had a proplem, prices don,t vary that much so 10 or 15 euro either way makes no difference.keep up the good work yor.

Gerry, this web sites rates for June are classed as peak season hence Mike's question as to has the peak season changed or is it because of the football. The car hire company by the way that supply the cars is YOR
