Economy Car Hire
Economy Car Hire
I am a big fan of this company and regularly use Drive4fun, Airauto, Travelrent.
However today I booked AURIGA CROWN through ECH. It is awful!!!!
Collect car from offices with Sixt, Budget etc. Charge €70 for a tank of fuel €300 for CDW despite there not supposed to be any and staff are rude.
Book ECH but avoid AURIGA CROWN (they have just moved here from Spain and appear to have brought all their customs with them)

Re: Economy Car Hire
Widge, could I suggest you let Rory Sexton, who runs ECH, know of your problem. I'm sure he will take action, and as a frequent ECH user it will be of benefit to us all. We switched to Drive4Fun, at Rory's suggestion, when we had a problem with TravelRent and have had excellent service ever since.
Re: Economy Car Hire
Hi Barry,
I rang ECH this morning to make them aware of the situation and followed it up with a customer comment email. Hopefully the boss gets to see these things!
Drive4fun are the best by some distance in my opinion, regrettably, they didn't have any cars left this week. Teach me to sing their praises on the forum!

Hi widge,
Must admit that recommending a service on the forum can be much like shooting oneself in the foot.
ECH have built their reputation on value and service, so would be surprised if your complaint goes unanswered.

Re: Economy Car Hire
Economy car hire and Economy car rentals are different companies,I have used ECH over many years without any problems. I am intrested to hear about problems with Travelrent have booked them through ECH without any trouble.
Re: Economy Car Hire
Used ECH a few times now and very impressed Not though impressed at all with Travelrent. Had a tired old 9 seater Minibus from them Aug/Sept and the 2 tyres on the back were completely bald. OK I should have noticed them when I picked it up at Faro but with 3 kids in tow after an early start then flight you dont examine to close (will in future). When I contacted them re the problem they didnt return calls and were not in the slightest bit interested in helping. The assistance in resolving the matter provided by Tom at ECH was 1st class.
In brief its ECH every time but Travelrent NEVER AGAIN.

We always use Algarve Driver and have done for many years now and every now and again we get a free
week in the winter when we have built up enough bonus days. We have never had a problem.

Re: Economy Car Hire
As always, recently used ECH and reserved a Punto via Travelrent and was upgraded to the Focus SW upon arrival
However, I wanted a smaller car because parking outside our (rented) house was limited and parking a bigger car a bit tight . . .

Re: Economy Car Hire
Just come back from 2 weeks, used Yorcar.com again for the second year running. They are good value, no upfront payment or deposit, you pay on arrival and they deliver to you as well.
Re: Economy Car Hire
I usually try to book with Drive4fun but last time had to book with Travelrent. Thieves smashed a window in the car so I informed Travelrent & got a report from the police station in Lagoa. On return to the airport I tried to pay for the damage by credit card but the attendant claimed that he could not process the card (despite the fact that the company already had my card details in their records). He could not even provide me with a proper receipt for a cash payment and now I am having problems getting the money back from my insurance company. They haven't actually done anything wrong and I would use them again but they have gone to the bottom of my list.

Re: Economy Car Hire
lincoc, you should have opted to pay the extra insurance. It would have paid for itself this time round. I always pay that bit extra (if it's not built-in) ever since a break-in a few years back.
