Paddyfields

Post by E. Bowdery »

Can anyone help me please?
I need confirmation--from someone whos lived in CVO/Lagoa area for long time--were they ricefields outside Lagoa --on the right of the old road as you go into countryside?
I want to get it correct for book and description---I could view this area from my roof garden --and was told by friend there that they were paddyfields. The gullies were constantly flooded and I would see egrets feeding there--there were always amphibians on the roadside -even saw a turtle there once!
But when I asked friend in Colombos(Portuguese) he thought it was just swamp land--does anyone know the answer please?
Thanks Ellie

I think it was swamp land, drove by it every day when I went to school and never saw anybody working the fields. In summer there was also cattle grazing there quite often.
