A BIG thank you
A BIG thank you
I am now home and back at my work desk after two incredible weeks in CVO. For the last fifteen years I have visited Menorca in late May / early June. Being married to a teacher I have to utilise school holidays. For the first time I had to take my annual leave over Easter and to get a better chance of decent weather we ventured away from Menorca.
Boy are we glad we did!! The Alarve offers so much more than Menorca, don't get we wrong, we enjoyed our visits to Menorca and made many friends. But the beaches in and around CVO are infinitely better.
My post today is to thank everyone who replied to my many, often obscure questions prior to my visit. To have been able to call on the expertice of people like fmm, Bruce and especially Michael Crane, plus many more, was a great help. The CVO web page and forum was great.
It would appear we got the best of the recent weather. We saw rain just once on Monday 29.3.10, some low level cloud but generally sunshine. We visited beaches at Ferraguda, Marinha, Carvalho and more. My favourite was Benagil.
We also ate out several nights. Dining at O Gale, Ma Ja's, Ele & Ela, O Galeiria, A Marisqueira and another whose name escapes me.
My Favourite? Taking everything into consideration it has to be A Marisqueira. Fresh cooked food on the outside BBQ. Ele & Ela was very good but I thought expensive. There was three of us and we had more courses at A Marisqueira than we did at Ele & Ela but the bill at Ele & Ela was still 25% more expensive!!
Having said that, we ate at Restuarant Suese on the harbour at Ferragudo one lunch time. Wow, great food but 100 euros for lunch !?!?!?!
Thanks again everyone for all your help. This is not the last of Lamby and we WILL return.

Re: A BIG thank you
Delighted you enjoyed your visit to our little paradise.
I am interested in your restaurant reports as in 20+ years in Carvoeiro - we have never eaten in any of those you named. I have no idea why either.
However, we have eaten in Oeste in Ferragudo - a place we once saw Jose Marinho in - you need his salary to be able to eat there. Without doubt the fish is excellent - but the price is off the scale (excuse the pun) - nevertheless it is always well patronised.
Anyway glad you had a good time and weather to boot - come back soon.

Glad that you enjoyed your stay in our little paradise - pity about the Man.United's results though.
Least you brought some sunshine back to Sale.
Looking forward to my next holiday there - most likely September.

Michael, you may recall back in August 2009 you kindly exchanged messages regarding where I stayed in CVO and your comments helped me decided to choose CASA MONDIAL. Remember? Your hidden booze in the villa. Thanks again MichaelMichael Crane wrote:What did I do that was e-special? Thanks for the mention.Lamby wrote:.... and especially Michael Crane...

Glad you had a lovely holiday also very glad to hear you ventured out from Cvo and found some of the loveliest beaches around, just further on from Benagil is Albandeira beach which we love the most, some great walks in either direction from the beach too.
Re: A BIG thank you
Lamby, I'm sorry but the thought of going to Menorca for 15 years is so depressing, We went once a lot of years ago and went back a second time about 6 years ago, big mistake! We are very fond of the Algarve but we dont go to Carvoeiro every year, head east to Tavira area, its very nice over there.
