Did anyone see the report in today's Times that outlined the GNR's plans to manage the potential issue hooliganism during Euro 04?

It ain't looking good people!!

General Cavalho - Head of Security for the championships, said that the GNR were powerless to prevent anything happening and could only act afterwards!!! What sort of policying plicy is that. He also said that he had spent a lot of time in England looking at the way we control crowds in the grounds. Well, cast your mind back to previous tournamounts and you will remember that the vast majority of yob activity was in the towns after the games and involved running battles with the local outnumbered police. Therefore, if they have focused all their training efforts on intra ground control and are powerless to be proactive then .........!

Lastly they have analysed where most of the supporters will stay, and not surprisingly have concluded that the Algarve resorts will bear the brunt of teh traffic. He also says that the Mayor of Faro has requested reinforcements which he will get. Does not sound too promising does it?

Is the yobbo factor likely to affect CVO and vicinity?

When does all this take place?

We see lots of brawls on ice but it only spills into the streets about once every 50 years over here.
