We note that the RB web site doesn't respond the last few days. Trying not to think that's an omen as we arrive there in a couple of days. Anyone know what may be going on there?

I note that a number of sites come up in response to a Google. The one we had been using was www.rochabrava.com. Quite a nice site.

Best bet, a virus has disabled them temporarily.

Its happening on all sorts of sites, even msn messenger was not logging in this morning. I am working 12 hour shift trying to get rid of those buggers.
If I ever meet someone created and sent out a virus, I we re-define "painfull, agonizing, slow death".

Just goes to show the crap we have to suffer through when we allow a monopoly like MS. Then they have the nerve to say they can fix it for us . . . . at a price!

Grrr!

Not had a problem with MS messenger myself this morning, and my Norton and AVG seem to be doing a fine job. Been reading about the biggest problem with virus and spyware, as someone has to create it and infect people in the first place for an antedote to be created. Haven't noticed MS charging me for "patches" or Norton or AVG charging me for updates.

Be interested to hear why others think differently.

I was referring to recent reports that Bill Gates and Co are working to find ways to id spammers and virus makers etc.

If I understand correctly, one proposed solution to regulating and reducing spam is to charge us a penny apiece or something for our e-mails. MS would collect the funds - for a fee, of course.

It just seems to me that if we had more competing operating systems and word processing software etc and didn't have to rely so much on MS products, we would be less vulnerable to viruses and spam and - who knows - better off, with better and lower priced technology.

Totally agree with you SHOWWWY that the MS 'almost' monopoly (ex. macs) does make us highly vulnerable to virus'. Had we grown up with a wide variety of o.s then we would not know anything different, but if there were a large number of o.s wouldn't software and peripherals, etc all become infinately more expensive as manufacturers would have to produce countless versions to make their product available on each o.s

If they didn't wouldn't you then have problems if you wanted something that was only available on an o.s. that you didn't have. Plus the agonies of trying to navigate a web that that didn't all speak the same language.

OK, I don't really know what I am talking about, but I do know I wish I was Bill Gates!!!!!!!
