Hi I am new to here but am looking for any help with some questions about my holiday to Carvoeiro.

I am going to be staying in a villa on the Vale de Pinta course with my 3 boys and elderley (but not infirm!!) mum and dad at the end of July for two weeks and wondered if we can walk from the villa into the town of Carvoeiro?

Thanks for any answers in advance.

:D

Hi tillibud,

Irrespective of where you are staying on the course, it is too far to walk, I would suggest you either hire a car for the duration of your holiday or travel in and out of town by cab, should be about 8 – 10 euros per trip, you’ll need two cabs per journey as they only take 5 passengers, but there are some minibus type taxis which will take more.

Happy Holidays.

Thanks for the replies, we are looking to rent 2 cars to fit us all in as I forgot to say my uncle is coming as well.

He is the one that likes to walk and was hoping to walk into the town, when I looked on google earth it said the distance was 2 miles, so is that wrong.

Do you know the golf course where we are staying?

Thanks :D

Hi Sam

Thanks for that, shame really as he likes his walks, will just have to walk around the Golf complex I suppose!!

We are staying in a villa overlooking the 7th hole and according to google earth it looks lovely.

Can you recommend anywhere to eat thats cheap and cheerful, or does that not exist and people tend to eat at home?

Tillibud

The 7th is a nice par 3 if I remember correctly. You will be a bit out in the sticks as far as cheap restaurants go, I suggest you check out the FAQ section on this site for further info.

The town of Lagoa is closer and will have many more better value places to eat than the centre of carvoeiro.
We would walk it, you are also closer to the Pau a Sucar supermarket

Hi.
The distance from Vale de Pinta Golf Course into the Carvoeiro centre is more or less 4 miles. Normally the people take a taxi to come into the village.
A normal taxi take 1 up to 4 persons and the big taxi 1 up to 6 persons. my taxi is a big one.
The price is 8-9 Euro a normal taxi and 10-12 Euro the big one.
:)

We just call it " bread and sugar " the literal translation being " sugarloaf " as in the moutain that overlooks Rio.

I would recommend Donatos for a cheap but very cheerful meal - probably about 1.5 miles from where you are staying - but a pretty hilly 1.5 miles! You will easily find it - it is opposite the water tower on the way to Carvoeiro.

I haven't tried it but I guess it is less than 2 miles from Pinta to Lagoa - a pretty flat walk so this may be a better option
