Lovely Carvoeiro

Post by jpkerr »

Just back from 7 days + 2 ash days in Carvoeiro. I traveled with my wife and 3 year old son and we had a ball!

We stayed in the Mirachoro Praia half board and it was excellent; food was good, everywhere was spotless and staff were helpful with our extended stay. It was, however, very quiet and maybe too quiet for some, although it suited us well.

We loved the town, it had just the right balance of being big enough to have variety without being too big to be noisy and boisterous. We mainly went to Benagil beach as it was well sheltered, has easy access, a cafe and toilets and we just liked it.

We hired the car through cardelmar (with their excess insurance) which was an Luz Ocean Drive car and we would recommend, as there was no extra charges on arrival, there was no problem extending the car for the extra days and no trying to find fictional faults on return.

I just wanted to give an opinion for those who are looking for advice on the town as I did. I would also like to thank those who contribute to this site and post in the forums where I gleaned a lot of information before I left, and for the directions which were of great help.

Many thanks

Paul

PS We had a great time on Sunday at Lagoa Fellowship Church - if any of the members are on the forum we would like to say thank you for your hospitality.

We booked half board and for the first few nights were the only ones eating the evening buffet. By the end of the week there was a 33% increase in custom when an elderly lady joined us. She had been at the hotel the previous year and had been the only one eating.

I would still go back as I go on holiday to relax.
