Has anyone any idea how many restaurants there are in CVO? Anyone tried to count them?

I've been coming each year since 1990 and seen the rapid growth. Back then I remember Fraiser telling me of the days when there were just three - his place, the old Antonio's and the 3 J's. Possibly exagerated but probably not too far from the truth?

Think he's wrong there I've not seen a great difference in 25 years.

I read in one of the english rags about 5 years ago that then there were about 140 restaurants & bars in Carvoeiro, more have opened since then & some have closed.
Perhaps we should form a group to track them all down & count them just to make sure. Purely for research purposes of course.

Pato - just to confirm "the days" were back in the 70's. Long before you were there. And if you haven't seen a change in the last 25 you've got your head somewhere!!

What do you mean"the Days"? you said the 90's and according to my calculations that's 20 years ago, the seventies were forty years ago or am I going bananas again? If you go back far enough you'll find there weren't any eating establishments apart from maybe maybe barbecued sardines on the beach. Twenty five years ago I was visiting Oasis, Sullies and O' Cantino

Thank you Stevie-C. It seemed quite clear to me as well!! But as I said his head must be somewhere!!

Last year Michael Crane was pulling together a list of bars and restaurants in and around CVO. The original post was Jan 23rd '09. This may be a good start for you Phil. Let us all know when you've done them all!

It would be almost impossible to do an exact count of all the restaurants in Carvoeiro because what counts as Carvoeiro? It's such a sprawling area now that it basically merges into Ferragudo, Lagoa and Benagil. For a rough estimate I'd count all the places on Michael Crane's list and then add 15 or 20. Thank God for Michael Crane.

My favourite place is 'Colombos'...its where I head to in the evening when holidaying in Carvoeiro...
I also like Oasis and A Casa do Pao.
Ive had some lovely lunches at 'Le Doce' too.....they put a herb in their cheese toasties & its delicilous and they make a superb Milk shake, my fav is passionfruit

Ive also had couple of nice dinners at Ma Jas..they do a great fish & chips

Ellie, Le Doce sounds good, where is it?

If you do go to Le Doce, try the homemade cakes..amazing. The sandwiches here are also great. It's the café on the out road next to Harry's Bar

Hi Ellie, Is Casa do Pao the restaurant with the parrot? If so we were there a week past sunday and had a lovely meal ( love seeing the parrot because she is the double of one of ours ) and we finally managed to get to Ma Jas, and it was very nice there too. Lovely food and lovely staff, (Mark and I think it is Jan), Lawrance and I introduced ourselves and we had a nice chat with them.

Wee Beanz - Casa Do Pao do have a parrot.
