Hi all
Our daughter is looking to get married in Carvoeiro in September 2011 : she realises that she needs to legally marry in the UK first & then have a "blessing" type ceremony in Portugal , as she can't reside there for the necessary 30 days.
Has anyone had recent experience and can pass on helpful tips/highlight problem areas?
We found that this topic on the forum was helpful, but it is a bit aged:

The Tivoli still looks good though!

Hi there just seen that your Daughter wants to get married in Carvoeiro in September. Just a note to say that the Tivoli is getting renovated in Oct 2011. Now that is what I found out from of the project managers... Just check it out first.

Has the 30 day residence rule been amended lately? and can a civil marriage service be held in any public place now?
Have you recently checked it out Geoff?

Hi Geoff,

My now wife and I got married at the Tivoli in June 2009. It was absolutely fantastic and I cannot reccomend it highly enough. The staff were excellent and the value for money for what we received was secong to none. They even allow you to bring your own spirits which they serve up for you - free of charge! The setting on the cliff top is magical and everyone who attended was very impressed. The lady you need to get in contact with is Fia Mighales who is the wedding organiser, she is excellent and has done many weddings so her attention to detail is spot on.
We got "officially" married at a registry office in the UK, however didn't exchange rings, so we looked at it as simply the legal aspect of things taken care of. I thought it may feel a bit strange however we both agree that our special day was at the Tivoli.

If you have any questions let me know.

Thanks,

Mark

I have heard from Fia that :
"The Tivoli Carvoeiro will be closed only from 12th to 27th December 2010 for staff holidays and maintenance.".....and also from November 2011 for renovation.

so we should be ok!

Hi Careza
The 30 day limit has apparently been changed, but it looks far simpler to marry in the UK.
