I think you need to realise that this whole "confrontation" is nothing more than a farce that means nothing in reality. Yes I used the word "fool" but do I really believe that Mr. Angry is a fool? I dont even know the mans name- all that was based upon was a few "silly" comments (apologies if your name is really Mr Angry).

Also, I am superior so I will "bandy" these words around as I feel like.

My definition of an intellectual is a person who embraces knowledge, and can apply it to life. This was my reasoning in not "labelling" Mr. Angry an intellectual, his rejection of Maddi's comments provide evidence of this.

I see you probably have seen my profile and noticed I am a student, hence your assumption that I have alot to learn in life. It is also probable that you too need to complete this task. You have stuck your nose in to a confrontation that was on most levels comical (my interpretation) with nothing to do with you and decided to prolong the mundane nature of it, maybe I am also guilty of this, though my reactions are provoked. So after taking your advice, I have thought long hard, and I have reached the conclusion that you are a fool. It should be noted that this is name calling only, I have no knowledge of you, so my accusations are unfounded.

Oh and thank you for pointing out my typo, your parents must be so proud of you.

I was happily sitting on the fence on the question of your intellect, but I am afraid you rather shot yourself in the foot when you had to sink to sarcasm in your final line of reply to Lucy - Lucy raised a valid point about how you are attempting to show your superior intellect and this is very dangerous in an anonymous forum where the background of others is not known. Indeed I think you may be wise to consider what she says in case you yourself are one day made to look a fool by someone who is of superior intellect you.

Take a look at e-richard's latest post and you will find, in my opinion, a talented wordsmith who is able to raise valid points in a skilled manner. The writing style is forceful without being bullying, intellectual without being condescending, and as such has a good chance of converting his audience to his point of view, which, after all, is the main reason for debate.

Well MattK,Ill answer your last question first.
Yes,my parents were very proud of me.I say were,as I have been an orphan for many years now. But I only made good because of their loving loyal support,especially in difficult times and I owe them a great deal.
No,I wasn't aware that you were a student and as such, you must have a head start seeing as you have such a superior intellect.
I repeat. Be very careful of bandying those words around like 'fool' and questioning others intellect because, as Graham has wisely said, you could very well end up with the label FOOL yourself!

In that case, if you wish to have a private or one to one conversation with another person here, I would suggest you use either e-mails or PMs.

This forum and alot of its members never ceases to amuse me. I appluad you all taking the high road. I cant believe how seriously people can take the most stupid of comments, depicting single words and basing an argument upon them.

I have never pretended that anything I have said in this topic has any depth or that I truly believe that any member is a fool. Believe it or not, I have not taken this topic seriously at all, I dont think that "I know it all" , I am certain that I dont! I dont make snap judgements on people based on a few lines typed on a forum. Do you really think that I have a belief that I am more intellectual due to nothing more than a few lines of speech? I will say once more, my responses were never taken seriously, e.g. do you think I really believe the answer is at the bottom of a bottle?

I realise that my comments meant nothing to me, but have caused a strong objection in yourself Lucy, but I will say you have taken them much too seriously. I also realise I have been made to look like such a "bad" person who is a "know all" by those who have taken my responses to be fact. I also dont believe this warranted the term debate, I enjoy debating, as seen in other posts, this is simply petty squabbling. Also, you have made out that I have made myself out to be superior. My first comment was never intended to portray this, my response to you Lucy played on the fact you thought this of me. But in your serious responses you too have tried to make out that you are superior-with your patronizing advice that I have alot to learn, and your warnings of name-calling. I am intelligent enough to realise these things without your warnings, hence my responses only ever being sarcastic.

Finally, on a serious note, I think you should reflect on how seriously you take messages on this board, and wether or not your responses are just for arguments sake. I realise this will be met with another wave of argument and I will say in advance that I wont reply again for all this typing, analysing and explanation of comments, serious or not, is a waste of time-im sure you will agree. Oh and Graham, sorry I havent responded to your comments about your opinions on myself, but to be honest, I couldnt care less and cant be bothered starting a new round of argument.
