who knows anything about the shortage of sugar in Portugal ? shelves are empty or restricted to one Kg per purchase .

Where? We've seen no shortage of sugar. In fact Sharen purchased some yesterday and was spoilt for choice.

How strange! Yesterday, Intermarché in Carvoeiro had plenty.

i had a coffee the other day in silves and asked for an extra sugar and they looked at me as iI was oliver twist asking for more - now I know the reason why

Do seem to recall a sugar (and bread) shortage in Scotland back in 70's. Can't recall reason. Was working in a town that had the main Tate & Lyle packing plant at the time, was it something to do with a dockers strike?

But are they limiting it to two packs per customer? My Portuguese isn't up to much, but it looked like it said that on a sign next to the sugar.

When we were in Pao e Acucar yesterday, they were limiting it to two packs per customer. However in Lidl and Intermarche today there was no limitation.
