Why not do this. Turn until you can feel the wind on your face, then urinate. That's how successful the protest will be.

Probably true, LB but sometimes people feel they need to be heard and this sort of taxation is never popular unless it reduces tax is reduced somewhere else.laserblazer wrote:Why not do this. Turn until you can feel the wind on your face, then urinate. That's how successful the protest will be.
Good on the protestors - that what I say.
Re: A22 PROTEST
agree with you lazyblazer, probably won´t do any good but I rather piss on my shoes than sitting all day in front of the computer and complain about everything and everybody with out lifting my arse..sorry.
Re: A22 PROTEST
If everyone takes the attitude, that there is no point......then nothing changes. Have you been watching the world news?? Protesting does work, if there are enough people involved!

Re: A22 PROTEST
Sorry, I should have realised your superiority from your username! I have to say I can see all the RHD Mercs and BMWs going down a storm at this protest. What are you protesting against exactly? The toll itself, the haphazard way it seems it will be implemented or the increased hazards on the N125.elite wrote:agree with you lazyblazer, probably won´t do any good but I rather piss on my shoes than sitting all day in front of the computer and complain about everything and everybody with out lifting my arse..sorry.
I've been sat on my lazy arse in front of my computer complaining to the the MEPs on the tourist committee about the latter two issues. Seems that also leads to wet shoes.

Re: A22 PROTEST
The main vocal protester against the A22 toll is the Algarve Resident newspaper. They keep running articles and campaigns against this Poll Tax for Cars and credit given where credit is due they are giving this toll, maximum publicity and trying to generate as much protest against its implementation.
Even at this late stage, if the authorities realize it is now a bad idea ,they certainly won't cancel the toll as they would be more damned with accusations of waste and dithering.
The only hope for this is for the opposition parties to take note of the fury of the protesters and promise to abolish it when the next election comes around.

The current political masters take the blame.....
The incomers criticise the outgoers.....but do nothing, except collect the new revenue stream.
I dont actually mind a toll.....what I object to is the way they are going to attempt to administer it.
It would make more sense to have a toll booth on the entry slips, and just collect an averaged out fixed charge.

Re: A22 PROTEST
How about the facility to pay before you go? Go online, enter the date and approximate time and details of travel, then pay by credit card.
Damn. Just realised the problem with that!

Re: A22 PROTEST
Bruce I don't mean to sound derogatory, but do you live here full time? I know you say you don't mind the tolls, but many here are not only disconcerted with how it will be implemented, as are you, but who also worry about all the negative implications it will bring with it in terms of tourism (the Spanish and Northern Portuguese in particular) and so on. And as many have said already, driving to the airport will no doubt be fun and games...
