It's from the Irish meaning to do with being rustic: ie: a country labourer

Guest too....I get your meaning....but have you used the correct wording? You do not need the word 'not'...if you mean that people of a cultural disposition are 'rarely' found in profusion in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
My neighbour 'Hyacinth Bucket' would be most upset..and you wouldn't be on her 'candle-lit' supper list..thats for sure

Sometimes used in a derogatory fashion in Ireland I'm afraid, i.e. meaning someone who is a bit slow or even "thick".

CULCHIE, comes from the townland of coilte macha,but now refers to anybody who dosen,t come from dublin.
