Champions League Final

Post by Lamby »

Boring I know, and football as a topic has been discussed many times here. But after Tuesday evening's result I think we can be confident in saying The Mighty Reds will be at Wembley for the Champions League Final on Saturday 28th May 2011. So, where to watch?!?!
My one and only previous visit to CVO I watched a few Utd games in The Black Stove. However, after reading an earlier "thread" on here I have been put off by talk of locals causing bother at The Black Stove. I liked this particular bar as we stay in Aries Dos Moinhos and it was staggering distance! So, a trip further into "town" is most likely as I am in CVO at the time of the final. I have read many times of the bars "best for watching football" so won't go down that route again. However, if there are any like minded poeple (Red's obviously) who will be gathering somewhere friendly to watch the final I would be intertested to share a beer with them on the night.
It's NOT all football - I am mighty excited by my imminent return to this Portuguese Paradise and have other plans. Honest !!

Do not be put off by previous threads on the Black Stove.
Having watched sport on TV in most of the premises in CVO I have to say that the Black Stove is the best.
Watched a few matches & grand national a few weeks ago and found it enjoyable.
New manager , noise level down a few notches and you can also eat if you wish take aways from local places on the premises.
What I find with other places in CVO is that they are too small with TV's stuck in corners and serving food takes priority.
Anyhow it takes no time to move from one establishment to the other. Hemingways is another alternative but less room.
Enjoy the game, I hope Ronaldo does not come back to haunt Utd ?

Thanks guys. Looks like I might have to have some sort of advanced scouting party and try them all in the week leading upto the final on 28.5.11. Still fancy The Black Stove. Martin's comment seems to point to a change in fortunes at this bar and I have to agree, some others I tried in 2010 seem to have a small tv tucked away in the corner.
Look's like Barca and a certain Mr. Messi in the final. Oh well, hope we can avenge the defeat in The Final two years ago. Hope to see some like minded people in CVO on 28.5.11 :P  (that's a Red Devil?!?)

If you want a big picture best one in town is Bistro 72 on the out road .They have a projector onto one of the walls about 20 foot square and decent quality .Hope Utd do it but think they will need to poison Messi first

Of course there may be other Mancunians around on that date too Lamby, would be nice to share a beer and discuss the finer points of the game.
As I did after the FA Cup semi-final!

Very good Bluemoon. Yes, an FA Cup Final and Champions League qualification looking likely for the blue half of Manchester. Plus, after the Arsenal game it's looking more difficult for United to win The League. Hopefully avoid defeat to the "lucky" Chelsea and we should do it. Looks like I will have to find a bar for the Blackpool game on the last day of the season on Sunday 22.5.11. Happy days

A lot of Utd fans are relishing the prospect of winning a record 19th title at the final whistle away at Blackburn at 2.30pm on Saturday. Just as City take to the pitch at Wembley. I wouldn't be so petty?!?
