Hi. I know it's been said before - but where IS everyone. Now the elephants have gone the web cam gives the impression of a ghost town. This is not a criticism, just an observation. I am due in a couple of weeks, let's hope the place is more lively then!!

Yep took he Dog to the Vet today and I have never seen it so quiet. Don't think anyone has got any Money. Could be a great Summer if it stays like this, nice and quiet, although I pity the Locals as Business will be well down. I spoke to a letting agent last week and he said that his bookings are down 50 % on the same time as last year. I think we are in for a rough time ahead.

Agreed! There is a fine between locals and tourists enjoying a quiet Summer and the local businesses suffering as a consequence. Personally, speaking as a tourist I don't mind a bit of activity around town when I am on holiday, it creates a good atmosphere. Too much activity and you end up waiting for a table for dinner and queuing at bars. The UK schools finish for the two week whit holiday on Friday 20.5.11 so maybe things will pick up then as this is the traditional first time a lot book abroad.

I hope for everyone's sake it gets busier - we're out in July and I'd rather wait a while for a table, or have slow service than sit in an empty restaurant or bar.

From purely anecdotal information it looks like being a quiet May and June before picking up as usual in the kids summer holidays.
What dates in July are you out Rich?

All schools vary. My wife's school ( in Trafford ) finishes for Summer on Tuesday 26.7.11 and return Monday 5th September 2011. Not bad eh?!?
