Hi All
We are looking to stay in the Arieas Dos Moinhos (hope i've spelt this right) area this year. Could anyone advise or tell us if there are any restaurants, bars or minni markets in this area, or close by?

Any info much appreciated#

You need to set it from user control panel.

Hi!

There is a restaurant on ADM, but is seems to be an on off affair.

When we were there last summer it was closed, but bizarrely they opened in September. I'm sure someone on the forum can advise why!

I believe it is still open and I have heard good reports. I think a restaurant/bar does well on ADM - particularly with the lunchtime trade frequented by the locals. There have been several different establishments over the years (I liked the smaller bar on the end with the blue tiles). It all adds to the character and we missed it last year.

There are no shops on the site (unless one has sprung up since last summer). We tend to go to Intermarche for a 'big' shop, then go to the smaller shops in town for 'bits' and fresh bread.

It's a lovely place to stay - I'm sure you'll really enjoy it!

Thanks to all replies, have changed the timezone as laser advised. Will try looking for the Pontro Do Encontro, And great tip Michael, we did stay in the ADM area in 2004 so a while ago now! Think we will go ahead and book in the area, the walk to the village will help me shift a few pounds I hope

Sorry but we had the worst meal ever at Pontro de Encontro in July last year, if it has changed hands might be different.
The chef did not know the difference between salmon and halibut.
Lovely guy that was running it but he food was dire.

Thanks for your reply Bruce. Never mind, there are plenty of other places to eat in CVO, although we are hoping to hire a car this year and venture out further. Anyone have any experience of staying at Vila Lenora on the ADM? :)

Why not look at the West side. You have Monte Carvoeiro with the Cocktail Garden, Elliots etc. Less distance into town, with Ma Ja's as a half way stop. What more could you want?

I live a few minutes from Ponto do Encontro and have been twice in the last 2 weeks. It is under new management. As well as a normal menu they offer a fixed price all inclusive menu with a reasonable choice of the standard fare (chicken, fish, pork chops etc plus a different daily special) for €7.50 at lunchtime and €9.50 in the evening. The price includes cover, main course, desert, coffee and wine. It is good value for money and I have found the standard of the food to be good.

ADM is a great place to stay, and only a short stroll into town. There is also a mini-mart five minutes away if you don't want to go to Intermarche.

Thanks for posting re mini mart, where is this in relation to the ponto do entronco? Steve, your reply is positive, we aim to try it out this year. We hope to hire a car and venture off the tourist areas. But we will never stay anywhere apart from Carvoeiro as we love the village. Cant wait to be there 8)

Go down the little road opposite the entrance to the ADM Estate,10 to 15 minutes walk, unless you're an athelite likew Matryx, as a bonus next door to the mini market is the Palmeira restaurant, excellent fish, nice place, lot's of locals :)
