Visited the waterfall as suggested. It was superb (See Cabanas de Tavira for view and instructions how to get there)
Thoroughly recommend.

I'm looking forward to the photos as we're a staying in Sta Rita this September , and not our usual area of Sesmarias, or to be more specific Rosa's Bar.
I don't want to sound like a complete Divvy, but does anyone know whether the waterfall still cascades in early September, or
does the hot july/august whether dry up the pool somewhat?

When I can tie my husband down I shall get hin to do the piccies, re cascading water from the waterfall late summer I cannot answer, but there are bound to be those on this site that will be able to.

I am sure that it was September last year that we visited the waterfall and it definitely was not dried up. I am sure that the water levels are reduced because of the summer, but the pool is quite deep so I assume there will always be water in it. Don't quote me on this though

I've been in late August and it definitely was in full flow at that time.

Cant wait for a visit! it looks lovely there!

Thanks for the tips all. I may go check it out but I wondered if it would be too much for a 1 year old and 3 year old?
My in-laws are fit but elderly so I'll probably go on my own to to start and may take them if it doesn't seem to difficult to get to.

It is a longish walk to be honest when it is hot - in August during that heatwave week, I thought I was going to die on the way there!!! However, if you take water and wander along at a slow speed it will probably take about 15 minutes and not be too bad.

If you look at the map,[ CLICK HERE ], can you tell me what route is taken from where you park your car? I can then trace the route and make it easier to access.

Working back from the waterfall, go directly north (you will see a long wooden bridge horizontal across the map), then north again, and slightly west, then you will see two larger roads meet in a backwards L - there are a few small buildings (little cafe) and this is where you park. You just follow the road, down wooden steps and across a couple of wooden bridges. It does look as though there is an easier route, but this is not the signposted one.

I can only see one bridge, just north of the waterfall. Where is the second?

I can't see it either - must be under the trees!!!
