Holiday on a budget

Hey everyone,

Was wondering if you could give me some help and ideas for holiday.
I so want to come to Carvoeiro but money is tight and can get there and afford the transfer and hotel for 1 week, but doesn't leave hardly any money for food or drink.

Does anyone know how I can still have a nice holiday but on a budget. I don't know how I will be able to stay for a week on 200 euro spending money between two people.

Hey there, I dont really have any advice but someone should be along soon that has a better idea than me! If you just want a quiet holiday on the beach and get food from cheap supermarket then im sure its probably possible!

Rent an apartment rather than a hotel and cook rather than going out every night.

How about camping? Cheap and cheerful and you feed yourself. If you shop around you can find cheap foodstuffs - just stay away from the 'touristy' supermarkets and get to a proper market, one that the locals use.

Agree, rent an apt, visit the market for meat, veg, fruit,bread fish etc, which is very good quality and very cheap. Buy alcohol from supermarket out of town by bus and have a few drinks at the apt b4 going out in the evening. Can still have a great time but by being sensible can keep costs down. Dinner walk to 'the Ritz', as it is known by us here on this site where you can eat and drink for less than 10 euros.( Directions available on this website) Ask in the resturants for their tourist menu which they should all have by law in Portugal. The menues should be under 15 euros for 3 courses and a drink. Eat lunchtimes in all the local little resturants out and about where the locals eat for a fraction of the costs of the holiday main drag resturants. Drink in the Portugese bars and cafes, again much cheaper. You should be able to have a good time without frills.
