Tit for Tat

World Peace?
Some chance of that considering what happened in Gaza yeterday.Ihave no time for terrorists or cold blooded murderers but did Israel think it was doing us all a service by assinating an old paraplegic. No is the answer and as one paper stated today,it could well open the gates to hell.
What happened in Madrid 2 weeks ago with over 200 dead may be just the beginning. All Israel has done is help recruitment to Hamas& al-Qaeda.
One picture gave me some cheer today, that being one of Bertie Aherne and Tony Blair in Belfast. It may not be perfect yet in Northern Ireland but at least people are talking. Dare I say, the bombs are not going off and theres hope.
What hope is there now for the Middle East :(

A terrorist is a terrorist even when he is an old paraplegic.

This evil man has advocated and encouraged the indiscriminate suicide bombing of countless innocent people. He has warped the minds of his followers into believing that they will enter heaven by carrying out such atrocities.

The Palestinians should think themselves very lucky that the Jews don't employ suicide bombers. Imagine the condemnation if they did!

There is a solution to the conflict and it lies with the Americans. All they have to do is stop sending the Israelis the billions of tax dollars that enable them to wage war. Without the funds to carry on this conflict they would be forced into a peaceful settlement.

It's times like these that I thank God I'm an atheist!

It was tongue in cheek . . . as you might expect from me. :)

I'd shout out "MUM!" After all, I know she exists.

I suspect he will be somewhat taken aback that his serious post has been hijacked. But he will know by the good fairy topic that essentially the users of this forum wish for world where all live in peace and with hope. And as someone who occasionally prays, not only in my moments of dire need but when I want to show my respect, e.g. 9/11, Dunblane, Madrid, etc, I shall set one aside tonight to that end (plus the fact that my other half is currently attending a prison siege as part of a 'active' team and my only information at this time is coming from the local TV station and from the net so I am a tad twitchy).

I think I may have mentioned this before (I could search but cannot really be bothered) but if everyone in the world was forced to watch the three films they show at La Memorial - A Museum for Peace, in Caen, then there would never be another person killed in war.

Agreed.

CB:
So have many others... does targeting him eliminate a threat , or create another Reason for Violence?
It's a very hard choice.

By whom?

CB:
True enough.....

Without the funds to carry on this conflict they would be forced into a peaceful settlement.

CB:
On whose terms?
And how do you "Force" someone into a "Peaceful Settlement"?.......

Without Lend-Lease, back in the 40's, England may have been "Forced" to make a "Peaceful Settlement" with Hitler.

I guess, in this case, it all boils down to what you think about Isrial.

It's a very hard choice.

I think in the longterm it will probably have a beneficial affect. Like chickens, cut off the head and the body runs around for a while but eventually it drops to the ground.

MC: The Palestinians should think themselves very lucky that the Jews don't employ suicide bombers. Imagine the condemnation if they did!

CB:

Everybody. Well, all the hypocrites and do-gooders!

Without the funds to carry on this conflict they would be forced into a peaceful settlement.

CB:

Without Lend-Lease, back in the 40's, England may have been "Forced" to make a "Peaceful Settlement" with Hitler.

On terms agreed by both sides. I doubt that we'd have surrundered to Hitler, and, if he had invaded I would have thought we'd still be fighting a la Palestine.

I do not necessarily support Israel; I do think that that the Palestinian's have had a rough deal and deserve their homeland back. Israel was created by taking the Palestinian lands in the mistaken beleif that it belonged to the Jews. It doesn't.

Another problem, and it isn't necessarily to do with religion; it is to do with race. The Palestinians are Arabs and the Israelis are (mainly) not. This is the main stumbling block to a peaceful settlement.

Before the State of Israel was formed the majority of the region's inhabitants were Arab. It's since the 'outsiders' have invaded that the trouble began.

Religion has caused the deaths of millions of people around the world. I find this ironic (and very sad) that something that promotes prayer and contemplation can be responsible for so much suffering.

You can keep your Gods; I want nothing to do with them!
