Oceanico Golf Courses?
Oceanico Golf Courses?
Coming to CVO September for sun & golf & drinkies (oops nearly mentioned beer then - oh bugger!) - 9 days so want to play 3 courses.
Oceanico have got specials inc club hire, buggy after 11am which are pretty good value.
Now I have played a lot of courses along the Algarve strip over the years but not the Vilamoura courses. I played the Faldo last year which was superb in every way so probably want to have a go at the O'Connor this time. But can anybody give their recommendations on these 3 Vilamoura ones:
PINHAL LAGUNA MILLENIUM
I know there are others probably better Old Course for example but I am on a budget. FORE!

Re: Oceanico Golf Courses?
you would be better off just sitting and watching the course and having a decent beer! would probably be cheaper at least.
Enjoy

Re: Oceanico Golf Courses?
went down with Golf for Greys to play the newly revamped Palmares course today and have to report that they've done a fantastic job; the course is in great condition and lots of holes have fabulous views of the ocean
buggies are allowed on the course which is a great help in the heat, will definitely be going back again

Re: Oceanico Golf Courses?
In the past 3 weeks we have paid 86euros ( Gramacho ) 2 ball and a buggy and 70 euros Morgagdo Alomos 2 ball/buggy.
Summer golf in the Algarve does not have to be expensive.

G4G put us on the Alvor & Lagos 9's, I don't know the readiness of the Praia 9, there's 27 holes together; those 2 9's are in fabulous shape, finished & buggies allowed on the fairways
Grey's charged us €50, the published low season rate is €70, so I guess there are a few deals going on
it's a knockout golf course, Robert Trent Jones designed the new layout, it's very impressive

Re: Oceanico Golf Courses?
Many thanks sunman, will try it at the end of August when i'm next out.
Re: Oceanico Golf Courses?
I agree with Sunman. The course is fantastic, and if your golf isn't working it is just a nice place to be - the views over Alvor and the coast round to Lagos are stunning!
I dont know how it will fare financially, but they have brought in a top designer, who has delivered a terrific course. Definitely top 5 in the Algarve.

The view you get when you walk onto the 17th Tee is one of the best on the Algarve.
I've always maintained that some of the best views in the world are from Golf courses, what a lucky lot we are.

Re: Oceanico Golf Courses?
I don't play golf I just go to the clubhouse for the view it is absolutely beautiful. That's were I want to live, up there on that hill, the villas there must cost a fortune.

Hi widge
Sorry about not answering your question.
The Oceanico deals are on their web site and also on other Algarve golf booking sites.
Its not bad value - as a lone golfer I sometimes don't get the deals that 2 or more do, although i always enjoy making up a 4 ball etc when i play in the algarve.
The golf courses have to be careful not to price out the golfing parties - many are turning to the new courses in Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia and so on as the economics bite.

Re: Oceanico Golf Courses?
16 of us have been in CVO for the last 2 years however because of the fact we felt the Algarve was getting awfully pricey for everything that a golf holiday involves we decided to try Czech Republic this year........what a fantastic change it was!
The courses were on a par if not better, there was no 5 hour rounds, the nightlife was superb, the price of ale was a third of the Algarve and the food was also cheap.
Booking up for next year already, the cost of our trip has went from around £1100 to around £700!!
http://www.abante.cz/h_index.php ................I really cannot speak highly enough about this company.

Re: Oceanico Golf Courses?
Friends from uk played today at the course, 1round for two including buggy and top class club hire, 65 euros. Sounds reasonable to me
