Tolls

Post by Satsuma »

Hi all,
Just wondering if the tolls that were meant to be brought in yesterday happened?
We arrive in just over a week & are hiring a car so just wanted to know what the situation was?
With thanks

Thanks Gavin, I was just hoping for some news from 1st September when they were meant to be brought in.
Just a bit concerned it's going to happen in the middle of our holiday & not sure what would happen on the way back to airport.
Probably best just to forget about it & see what happens as I worried in April when we came out & then the tolls were postponed!

Will let you know if we spot the covers coming off the signs.... we will take our eldest to the airport later this week so we will see then. We are in the same position as we take the hire car back very late to the airport next week, think we will just wait and see what happens!!!!

I have found this link http://www.heyportugal.com/index.php/Tr ... tugal.html which seems to explain quite a bit of stuff about the tolls. I'm still confused about it all though. I'm just not going to worry about it until I see definitive proof in front of my own eyes that the system is operational, I think that's the best way! I for one don't want to be burdened on my holiday with the thought of having to find a post office etc etc and the impending doom should I not pay it on time.

Thanks for the link....it makes interesting reading.
The updated bit in green says they may come in in mid September, so hopefuly I will be home by then! Another interesting 'tip' it gives is to join & leave the motorway in between the gantries as the gantries are only at certain places & you would then avoid the tolls. Simple :) Anyone know which junctions the gantries are on?

Nothing seems to have happened so far re tolls, we drove to the airport Saturday evening and all the boards are still covered up. We go home on Wednesday so unless they are brought in today or tomorrow I can't see it changing at the moment.... Will someone else keep us up to date please. As said many times before it is not the paying that I am concerned with, I think it fair to pay to use the motorway, just how it will be structured for car hire users. 8)

The gantries are on or between ALL of the junctions so no way of avoiding them.

So, it is still not in operation, then?

To describe the introduction of this scheme as a pantomime farce would be very wrong; as pantomimes are meticulously planned and carried out! 8) I'll say one thing for the opposition parties and individuals that oppose this toll- they are still fighting it tooth and nail.
