for those who can drag themselves from beer & sky sports
might like to know that at the convent jose (arts complex) in lagoa there was last night a very nice middle east musical group with lara the belly danca.....next week is another goup (this is saturdays at 9.30 pm) from the east and then the following sat a group with a flameco dancer from seville.
entry is free, but there are only about 120 seats so space is first come first served.
nice to see some culture for a change

entrance to the complex is up a large sweep of stairs...long corridor with the art galley next to it...best to get there about 8.50 (in my opinion)..quite a few who got there about 9.20 didnt get in...well serves em right for being so tardy
if you can get to the front its worth it..i had very nice seat on front row for the belly danca...very educational..the movement..the swaying of the hips..the......aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
pity the portuguese are so useless at dancing...did think once with the home of flameco being so close it might have had an influence...but not a chance!!
anyway hope ellie of eastern promise you enjoy the show

Why thank-you Guest....you certainly sound as if you enjoyed that front seat view and all that hip gyrating..sounds like very good exercise to me..and Ive no doubt you were perfectly tuned -in to all those rhythmic movements
Well--Im a southern girl really.... but the East certainly has its appeal..and I just love Turkish Delight
So ..around 8.50s the time to be there?
P.S. have to disagree about Portuguese dancing...I saw some good stuff in the square last September..all up close & personal..and that was just the pensioners

Is that what they call the 'Watney Wobble' Guest?
actually ..the Port. dancing I saw..had sort of jogging movements..Ok..they weren't 'Fred & Ginger' but they were pretty lively!
Saw Morris dancing yesterday in Boston...Looks a bit dangerous to me..all that bashing sticks etc..and that was just the women!
No.. I do agree with you though....Flamenco..Tango...Samba...(can do the last 2)...very seductive...exciting....oh..and the belly dancing too
