Markets along Algarve
Markets along Algarve
We are travelling next week and staying for 10 days close to Carvoeiro.
In case the weather is not kind can readers please assist by giving us a run down on weekly markets.
We know of only one market which is held on Wednesdays just outside of Quarteira.
Grateful of your assistance to give us some back-up ideas for our vacation.
With thanks,

Re: Markets along Algarve
The Wednesday market is definately the best one.
There is a weekly market on a Saturday at Loule, and others on various days.
If you buy the Algarve Resident, on a Friday, they publish a weekly list of markets, and I think you'll find it in the Algarve News as well.

Have a look at this:

You'll need to copy and paste the whole link into the address bar of your browser as the forum script doesn't like the special characters [4].pdf.
Markets are towards the rear but it also shows you what else is on.

Re: Markets along Algarve
Is the monthly Flea Market still at Ferragudo?
Re: Markets along Algarve
The best market we have been to is in Monchique held monthly, much better than the tourist focused ones in Albufeira and Quateria with dodgy copies of DVD;CD's bags etc.

Wouldn't want to be around any tourists so I'll stay clear of those twoEMM wrote:The best market we have been to is in Monchique held monthly, much better than the tourist focused ones in Albufeira and Quateria with dodgy copies of DVD;CD's bags etc.

Re: Markets along Algarve
I recommended the Quateria Wednesday market because that is exactly what most tourists want. Knock off designer handbags for 10 euros, and all that.
To be fair....its a fun morning....busy....lots of bartering for cheap stuff, then afterwards, if you are looking for fruit/veg/produce, you can go back into the town, and visit the "real market" which is held there, on the same morning. (this market to be found at the opposite end of the main road in...it finishes about 1)
