Does anybody know of a golf club maker or similar - in the Carvoeiro area?
I have a set of ladies clubs that I need to have shortened and re-gripped for my 8 year old grand-daughter

I have had work done on my clubs at the golf shop in Carvoeiro at the top of the " IN " road.

They're an old set of clubs and are for an 8 year old - I think Penina would be expensive

Stand her on an orange box for now, she'll soon grow into the clubs, if she doesn't loose interest first !

I do all my own re-gripping, so it must be easy !

Hi Shangarry,
One thing worth remembering is that any adult club, whether ladies or gents has a heavier head weight and stiffer shaft flex than that needed by a junior golfer. The result is that the youngster will tend to over swing. Club weight and shaft flex is an important aspect of all golf clubs. Heavy clubs with cut down adult steel shafts and clubheads designed and weighted for adults are very difficult for smaller golfers to swing efficiently, and can result in the junior golfer extending around way too much at the end of the swing!
A club properly weighted for a junior will allow the speed of the arms to match the rotation of the body, resulting in better club head-ball contact, more distance and improved accuracy. Up to about ten years old a junior needs both a lighter club head and a lighter more flexible shaft, definitely not steel, but a composite shaft with more flex.
What can happen if doing as you propose is that the player gets into a bad habit of over compensating for the extra wight and lack of flex, and then will struggle to rectify this in later years.

Totally agree with these comments. I would look for a cheap set of second hand kids clubs, and if she enjoys the game she will grow in to the Ladies set. If not sell on the junior set. You don’t need a full set either. A couple of woods max and three or four irons plus putter. Job done.
