Paying the toll

This might have been asked before, if so - sorry !
I am quite happy to use the motorway while in Portugal and accept the toll charges. I understand any fees are payable 2/3 days after incurring the charge. Subsequently, I asked my car hire supplier how I pay my toll for the journey to the airport on my way home. Apparently, I am informed that the bill is sent to my home address and there are instructions on how to buy on the internet.
Has anyone any experience of receiving a toll charge when actually in The UK? Thanks in advance.

All 3 of my kids have visited in the last 2 months, and not one has had a retrospective bill.
I understand that the cost of pursuing and recovering toll charges after the hirer has left the country, isnt worth the effort or cost.....even if the credit car flimsey is retained by the hirer.
If there is a toll build up on an individual car, it is apparently impossible to dis-aggregate, especially if the car was returned, and went out again on the same day.

out of curiosity what hire company is peddling this as the solution to the tolls incurred in the return to the airport.
I was out in December, tolls both ways, didn't bother with the post office, and nothing yet. My hire company at the time said that my credit card would be charged the tolls after I returned home, when out again in Feby and was talking to them they said that they would have destroyed the cc details after a month if the toll company hadn't contacted them by then.

Hi. Economy Car Hire issued me with the information regarding getting a bill sent to my home address for the return to airport trip.
Based on Joey and Bruce I think I will simply use the motorway, go to the post office maybe once or twice during my two week stay and pay any toll applicable to my hire care. Then use the motorway again for the journey back to the airport and sit and wait at home to see if a bill lands on my doormat !! Thanks for the information guys.

For clarity can the bill be paid at any post office in Portugal? We are travelling up to Obidos for last few days of hols and leaving the car at Lisbon airport so if we were feeling very saintly might have paid the remaining outstanding toll whilst "up north"!
