Car Transport
I am looking to bring a car from the UK in early July and wondered if anybody is coming this way with an empty trailer. It will be going back in early August - either driven or transported
Re: Car Transport
If you only want use of a car here for a month then take it back, would it not be cheaper to buy a car for a few hundred euros here and drive it back, than to pay to have one transported?
Its not cheap to have cars transported... it cost me a couple of thousand euros to have one put on a trailer and transported 3000km across europe but in the other direction - pretty similar distance to England.

Re: Car Transport
Algarve removals quoted me ~£1000 to ship a Jaguar XJ to CVO - one way, but gives a discount (dont know how much) if you want it returned uk 6 months later
Re: Car Transport
Sounds like a great deal to me when you consider the cost of delivering it yourself e.g. ferry/ tunnel, petrol, tolls, O'night accom etc.maccasa wrote:Algarve removals quoted me ~£1000 to ship a Jaguar XJ to CVO - one way, but gives a discount (dont know how much) if you want it returned uk 6 months later

I'm pretty sure Direct Transport ship cars. You have to get it to Andover.

Re: Car Transport
I was hoping to replicate a recent arrangement where a family were traveling to Cvo to take a car back to the UK and brought my Wife's car on the outbound trip - at a fraction of the cost quoted by the recognised carriers.
Having done the maths to compare 3 weeks of car hire (July/August) to include 2 return air fares v transporting the car from the UK - £2,000 seems to be total either way - least expensive solution is to get our car cover extended for them + the air fares - £500 should do it.
Thanks to all for the feedback
