In all the years we've been coming to Carvoeiro, we've never really stopped in Lagoa. We've been to the Fatacil and Shoe World, but that's about it.

Is it worth stopping and having a look round? We've driven past the winery many times - is it worth a visit? I've also heard Chrissy's restaurant is good.

Any views on Lagoa?

Lago has a market a few interesting shops , restaurants and churches, Shoe world is no more.

There's a "square" by the fire station with a playground and some nice cafes where you can sit and watch the world go by. Climbing Mount Everest is possibly easier than negotiating some of the streets on foot.

There are a couple of nice 'squares' one near the turning off the roundabout in the centre, and another up at the top of the town, there are some lovely cafes in the town and Chrissy's is a great restaurant, it used to be owned by a British couple but they have retired now and the Manager and Chef have bought it and are doing there own thing, menu is just as good as they always did all the buying and menus anyway. Good food, better wine than before and a nice small restaurant.

One of the best tourist spots, for me anyway, possibly because I have a vested interest, is the cemetary, you must visit the spooky tombs, quite scarey but interesting, you can see the coffins before your very eyes, I tend not to look.
Lagoa? well I hope "Aitch" isn't reading this, but I always associate the town with smell of dog pooh! my late wife was never comfortable there she expected to be attacked by bandito's down every back street, but there again she was from Birkenhead. I got lost there one year and made my way down a sort of street which turned into some sort of alley and then into someones house with no room to turn around or to even open the car doors, that was scarey and my blouse thought we'd fallen into a trap.
Chrissey's? always had a nice meal there, a cut above the rest I feel (owners very attentive well I say that but it was a bit disconcerning when they sat at the next table and watched everything that went on, but being the laid back sort of guy that I am I accepted that situation ) I thought the couple who owned it and who I'd met on a few occasions in the recent past, lived on the ADM, are they still the proprietors?
That's it I suppose Oh! apart from the numerous small shops who seem to supply everything under the sun, bit like open all hours scenario. That's interesting.

No - Louie and Deb have sold up now.

Yeah! but there's not much life.

It is now run by the same manager and chef as when Louis and Deb owned it, as they were the ones doing most of the buying and menus for the restaurant I don't think you will find very much different to before, do give them a go and try, at least there will now be one more table for customers!!

I only walked around Lagoa once and on that occasion thought it was pleasant enough. Its not an Albufeira, Portimao, Lagos or Faro by any stretch but IMO it's worth a couple of hours. Going to the financas office during this trip so might well have a little walk around with a coffee or something similar to round it off.

We've not been around Lagoa too much but have eaten many times at a great place called Restaurant Lamim. We have not been for about 18 months but it is owned by Paul and his sister and the food has always been excellent. Many years ago the cooking was done by Pauls mother (possible Grandmother - can't remember) and I would say that it had the best soup I have ever tasted. The soup is still good and the portions generous. There is always a good selection of fresh fish and Paul has even been known to nip down to the local butchers if you order something special like Tournedo. It's well worth a visit.
