Have just heard that Dave/Bobby has finally closed...is this true? Heartbroken! ( pace, Michael C).

We were also told this ( unconfirmed ) last friday night.

Has been on the cards for a long time now though - can any of the residents tell us if it is likely to re-open with someone else - would have to be different I imagine considering the time Dave had it and the "legendary" status it acquired.

Dave is still living in CVO. Hopefully he may open occasionally (I think he will miss it too much to stay closed forever) I suppose I will have to find another bar to make my 'Guest appearances' (perhaps I need to stop singing "A long long time ago' (some people say I should have stopped singing - full stop!) - I will be over in CVO for 2 weeks in mid April, looking forward to it.

If ever a place was right for someone to grind out American Pie - the Jailhouse at about 1:00am was always the place

American Pie was my wife's favourite...and Dave used to play it.....latterly, he has refused saying it goes on too long! But we are out end April/early May so would like to hear your version, American Pie....where will you be & when?

Arrived in CVO wednesday 10th April until 26th. Jailhouse seems all closed up. Will be in Round up next Friday - What fabulous weather.

Spoke to Dave at length its his 60th on 26th May and reluctantly he has decided its time to hang the guitar up as far as the Jailhouse goes. He has a gig in Almancil twice a week which he feels is enough without the rest of the effort.

I will give him until June before he gets revitalised and cant resist a reopning!

I will be the first to thank him and wish him and Karen all the best for the future. He can sit down relax and watch his beloved Hull FC.

Its the end of an era.

I was listening to Simon Mayo on Radio 2 interview Georgie Fame recently and Simon invited people to contact the show with their memeries of Georgie Fame. Someone called in with their recollection of seeing Mr. Fame somewhere on The Algarve. Georgie said he remembered this and it was in a lovely "little place" called Carvoeiro. I am guessing he sang at Jailhouse. I have never frequented Jailhouse, but I am sad if it has closed permanently.
